FAO Stattos - Unbeaten run in GOC

by T.R.O.L.I. » 05 Dec 2009 17:51

Today's win took our unbeaten run in God' Own Country (that's Yorkshire to normal people) to 11 games. The last time we failed to return from Yorkshire with any points was 15th March 2005 when we lost 1-0 to Rotherham. Since then we've had to following results:

05/06

Hull 1-1
Sheff Utd 1-1
Leeds 1-1
Sheff Weds 1-1

06/07

Sheff Utd 2-1

08/09

Sheff Utd 2-0
Barnsley 1-0
Sheff Weds 2-1
Doncaster 1-0

09/10

Barnsley 3-1
Sheff Weds 2-0

That is all.

Loud Ian - if you're doing ceremonial counties you need to include Middlesbrough, which is in the ceremonial county of North Yorkshire.

I stand corrected - although I don't think many on here would really count Boro' as a Yorkshire team.

Indeedy

So, if you include Boro, it's one defeat in 13 since Rotherham '05 (2-1 loss in Feb '07). I still don't see them as a Yorkshire team though

Not any more - abolished well over 10 yeras ago when Unitary Authorities came in.

The Tees is the historic Yorkshire/County Durham border, so Boro has traditionally been Yorkshire.

That Rotherham game (goal right at the very death) ruined my birthday and Yorkshire has been paying for it ever since!!!

I thought Middlesbrough was a country in its own right - they don't speak English up there.

This "record" holds good for teams in South, East or West Yorkshire.

The last time Reading lost in Yorkshire

by handbags_harris » 20 Jan 2010 11:58

Jumping beyond the FA Cup match at the weekend, we have Sheffield United on Tuesday. The last time Reading lost in Yorkshire was:

http://www.royals.org/matdoc/150305.html

That is a run of eleven games without defeat, and we currently have seven wins on the spin.

Just a thought...

We've had this before, isn't Middlesbrough technically within Yorkshire.

Middlesbrough doesn't count. It was in Cleveland when I was born which is enough for me to not consider it Yorkshire 8)
