Outside of the RFC bubble

Last season was quite disastrous. However, three of our players (Gunter, Robson-Kanu and Norwood) all received rave reviews for their play at Euro 2016. McCleary was at the Copa America, Vydra had scored loads in his previous season, we had a CB loaned back from Chelsea after they bought him from us, Al-habsi won Player of the Season, McShane has been seen as an excellent addition and we had an Academy full of potential - as has been seen by the purchase of Tsibola by Aston Villa for 5M. Other players in our squad were and are also impressive.

When you look at all this, how is it that supposedly good Managers were not able to mould the above into a top-six or even Promotion team. It has to be a mixture of bad tactics, lack of team spirit, incompetence on the Training Ground and sheer bad luck.

Can someone tell me what went wrong?

An imbalanced squad with too many want away or unmotivated players, a few ill timed injuries and a manager with one eye on the exit door.

Steve Clarke clearly couldn't man manage the team at his disposal. When he left we had a load of short term players who weren't prepared to put the effort in and a disillusioned Manager.

Hardly noticed Norwood. Delivery looked as bad as always.

Gunter in a back 5 and a team built to counter attack isn't as exposed.

Far dues to Kanu. Though lots of players can play well in patches. However consistancy over 40 -50 games is another matter.

Yeah, and given all his shenanigans, I reckon the reception at home to Villa should be choice.
