Why did I think it was going to be a 10,000 seat expansion? It said in the EP that it is for 6,000.

Isn't that the initial build, with the N and S stands to follow?

Here's the black and white plans - both the East stand expansion and the full stadium expansion...

I think some of the resolution has gone though from doing the upload.

East Stand Only Expansion

Full Expansion

Is it just me, or do those 'full-expansion' North and South views look like the part where the badges are stuck on is sticking out? Maybe for the lifts to the upper disabled areas?

RL and WSM,

Isn't the East Stand a 6000 planned increase. But with the North, South and East together we're looking at going up to around 37,000/38,000?
Therefore a total increase of between 13,000/14,000.

Or do these estimates keep changing? :?

I think it has always been a 6k East Stand expansion and then 4k in each of the N & S giving roughly a 14k growth.

From what I recall these numbers have always been subject to confirmation as the original plans published for consultation weren't at that level of detail. It's possible the numbers may vary a bit as they work out the detail of disabled facilities, design, access routes etc.

6k on the east stand and then the north and south stands not quite doubled to take the total capacity up to 36'900 (est) according to the application.

Do people really believe we can fill the ground, with the increased capacity of the stadium when we can't sell out this weekend against Fulham.

Why do we need to every single match?

There are at least 10 matches a season where we could fill double the current capacity, and another half a dozen or so where we'll fill 90%+ of the current capacity.

There's a handful that won't be sell-outs, and I suspect that playing Fulham earlier in the season when there's still something to play for would easily have been a sell-out, anyway!

Or let's just add a couple of thousand on now, then another couple of thousand in 6 months, then another 2000 when we get a really good cup run going. Why build a stadium that will serve us well for the future when we could just do things in a half hearted piecemeal fashion ?

When we moved the thought of getting 24k EVERY GAME was totally inconceivable, yet now we could get more than that if we had the room.

38k works in terms of sensible numbers and the design / proportions of the stadium. It will be a stunning stadium in 2 years time ...

With 38,000, we'll sell out 5 games a season (Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd) with the rest hopefully getting more than the current amount of 24,000.

I presume the away end will be an entire section of the South Stand expansion goes ahead then, so circa 3500 tickets?

3,000 (which is the max we have to give - 10% or 3,000.)

But they are looking at ways in which they can change the allocation and sell all of the rest to home crowds for matches where they away team don't want the full allocation.

And for FA Cup games it'll be 15% of capacity (i.e. about 5,250) so again options to move segregation will be useful.

Unlikely any (many) would sell less than 24k as for lots we woul dhave more away fans there.

I reckon it would be quite possible to work on 30k gates pretty consistently as long as we are a top half Prem side with a decent home record playing good football.

And the grreater capacity will allow the club to do things like "Sevens" and "Kids for a Quid" again against teams like Fulham - as well as filling the ground they benefit everyone in the long-term.

That's a good point. They will have to change the segrgation on the away end once the east stand is comepleted extension to make it upto 3k seats rather than the current 2.5k unless we give them the whole end.

Not sure what will happen for cup games?
