Why was Fernandes planning on walking backwards to the centre circle?

"Towards the centre circle" is a rather generous interpretation of him admittedly facing the centre circle, but having moved approximately 3 yards from picking the ball up from within the goal to the middle of the 6 yard box, having deliberately picked the ball up to waste time and delay Liverpool restarting

**Seemingly controversial view** - I didn't think VVD did anything massively wrong for the Sancho goal. Hands behind the back is the way many defenders act these days to avoid handballs, and another Liverpool player (Milner?) Was already onto Sancho trying to stop him. Could have been trying to get forward to block it once Sancho was free to shoot, but as soon as that Liverpool player went to ground Sancho was about to shoot anyway so VVD had no time to do anything else.

Kind of feels like Man Utd fans tying to create a thing about VVD as they hate how he is talked up so much

TA-A more to blame for me, was just ambling around and then only decided to try and close Sancho down at the last moment. If he had tried to close him down straight away, I don't think Sancho gets the shot off.

Hmmmm. Not convinced about that.

The player that went to ground was Milner who gave VVD a right rocket in the immediate aftermath.
Wasn’t aware that Milner was a United fan ?

It's worth watching the Sheff Wed v Rochdale highlights from last night's cup match. 3 absolute worldies from Sheff Wed.

They were all cracking goals.

Liam Kelly's downward spiral of a career continuing at Rochdale though, in and out of a side bottom of L2 now. That move to Feyernoord, was in retrospect, probably the worst thing he could have done from a career development standpoint.

Rochdale don't like closing down a player who's about to shoot from 25 yards out do they.

Not good enough to tie Steve Sidwell's boots, let alone anyone else.

Was an ongoing thing between myself and OMA around the time Gomes froze out Kelly where I suggested it perhaps wasn’t a great move to freeze him out

I could admit OMA was right here but I’d rather double down and stick on the Kelly is good train

Royal Rother
paultheroyal Not a red in my book and a brilliant use of VAR. Sky Sports showing a repeated angle of high foot but angle made it far worse than it actually was. Trippier intent was not to be dangerous or injure an opponent in my opinion. Ref's team called that right in the end.

I'd hazard a guess that 90% of red card fouls do not have an intent to endanger or injure an opponent, but that doesn't seem to make a difference if they end up 3" off the ground and catch an ankle / foot. They're off.

This was 18"+ off the ground and not a foul in the normal sense of the word - it was a deliberate intent to stop an attack. I appreciate that is not a factor when deciding punishment (unless clear through on goal) but those should get far harsher treatment / condemnation than they get. Cnuts like Cnudy on TS consider "professional" fouls like that to be absolutely the right thing to do when a break is on of course.

What do you think about the whole "professional" foul issue?

You can yellow card for unsportsmanlike behaviour, or something like that.

I'd like to see either a more serious category for a red card, like serious unsportsmanship with no attempt to play the ball.

Or a yellow card for the foul, and a second yellow card for the lack of sportsmanship.

'Taking one for the team' should be hounded out of the game.

A good stroll in the sun for Liverpool.
Perhaps the battle for the title is not quite over yet.

Goodness, what a waste of money that Haaland chap is turning out to be

Missed a few already, but already top of the scoring charts

And there was me thinking that the transition from Bundesliga to PL was a much bigger that we give it credit for (see the likes of Sancho for example)

The only sad bit is that I expected Nunes to do that same for Liverpool so we get two to watch. At the moment it’s Jesus providing the competition
