Ark Royal I would imagine that all of the Europeans would hope to avoid Ivory Coast or Ghana. There is going to be at least one Group of Death.

Reckon Argentina will get it

papereyes One European team will be dogpoo.

England? Let's be honest where they get seeded is irrelevant, they'll win their group, roll past a last 16 tie and then fail miserably against France, Brazil, Argentina or Portugal in the quarters

Oh I mean, Greece '94 or SerbiaMontengro '06 dogpoo. France '02 perhaps? Beaten by some plucky Africans, draw against a decent team then implode against some under-rated scandinavians.

And yes, that's exactly my prediction for England. Beaten by the first decent side they play in a game that matters. Someone will get sent off to add injustice for the 'can't quite wipe the drool from my mouth' brigade.

I think we'll have to be beaten by a very good side this time around and won't be going out with a wimper.

Bet one group ends up like this

South Africa
USA
New Zealand
Algeria

For once though its tricky to see an obvious group of death....

Would in not be easier just to get one method, let everyone agree on that and use it every year.

Oh no wait this is fifa, where nothing is easy or simple

As far as I remember, they do. Its based on the previous world cups to work out 8 top seeds (well, 7 plus hosts) and the rest is done geographically.

Ignore paultheroyal's post - its bonkers.

Has anyone here bought a ticket of World Cup 2010 yet?
It is troublesome that the ticket can be given only at stadium for people traveling from abroad, but I took a chance as I have already purchased game number 39 "D4 VS D1" .
If Paultheroyal's pot selection is right, I dream of Japan VS England which is a chance of one in 64!

Is the draw going to be live on terrestrial tv?

Interestingly enough, it seems to me that Germany are generally being overlooked when people talk about potential threats. In the media in general, not just in your post SF (you didn't name obvious candidates like Italy or Spain, for example). And as always, they did not look altogether impressive in qualifying and (perhaps, oddly enough) most people here see that as a very very good sign.

Got three games, E1 vs E4 (group match) plus two second round matches. I think there are going to be ticket collection points in city centres for people travelling overseas, but I might be mistaken.

It won't be the seedings which paultheroyal has suggested, much more likely to be what papereyes put down on page one (http://www.goal.com/en/news/1863/world-cup-2010/2009/11/19/1632227/world-cup-draw-seeding-pots-the-possible-setup). This still leaves you with a 1/64 chance of England vs Japan though!

My 3 dream games would be Argentina vs Cameroon (or Messi vs Bikey), Brazil vs Portugal and Spain vs Holland, not asking for much! Excited about the draw, and will be happy with whatever I get to be honest.

You'll find the requirement is in the big book of World Cup rules, in between "10 man Uruguay" and "plucky Koreans".

cmonurz

Either way, the last two world cups are taken into account, and a win and a final should see France seeded.

2002: Winners - Brazil, Runners-up - Germany, 3rd place - Turkey, 4th place - South Korea
2006: Winners - Italy, Runners-up - France, 3rd place - Germany, 4th place - Portugal.

A win? 2002, do you forget that pre-tournament favourites and trophy holders France were knocked out of the tournement at the Group stage, without scoring a goal, in a group containing Senegal (0-1), Uruguay (0-0), and Denmark (0-2).

Spacey's just come in his pants
