Ian Royal Good bye and good luck to the best striker we have ever had.

I certainly wouldn't go that far. One of the best yes, but not THE best.

I say good luck to the man. He was their number one target. They paid a good price for him. He has nothing but respect for Reading and us fans and he has handled the whole affair with dignity. I know for a fact that Coppell would have preferred to sell Doyle or Lita, but Tony Pulis was only interested in Kitson. A wise man.

You know a striker is good when they have an almost 1 in 2 scoring average and they got multiple hat-tricks for your team!

West Ham
Gillingham
Brighton

+ 3 pre season friendly hat-tricks.

Probably the best striker we will ever have.

He's certainly the best of recent years. I think (maybe) that Quinn could have been as successful if we'd been hovering around the top reaches of the second tier for a greater chunk of his time here but certainly since then, not one of the strikers at the club comes close.

Yes, we may have liked Forster, Cureton and Butler more. Yes, Lita and Doyle could be better.

Can't think of anyone better with a complete all-round game,two-footed,a good header of the ball, good passer and tackler and decent finisher.
Kerry Dixon.Robin Friday and super Trev must be up there but Dixon only got to play for England some time after he left us.
Having scored goals for us at Premiership level I really can't think of anyone better and he will be greatly missed this season IMHO.

Anyone got some footage of his goals against West Ham/other hattricks/overhead kick at Bradford and so on?

Those videos make me sad. Especially watching those Tottenham goals. We should have won that game and stayed up!

I think Jimmy Quinn ticks all those boxes too.

He was better in the air, a better finisher, but not as good as Kitson outside the oppositions penalty box.

Kitson and Quinn up there as the best, then Senior and Forster for me as a post-Friday supporter who only really remembers Senior during his later spell with the club.

Jimmy Quinn > Dave Kitson for me. Quinn scored plenty at international level, although admittedly he didn't perform in the top flight as Kitson (fitfully) did.

But Jimmy only played for Northern Ireland and our Dave could have played for them if he hadn't insisted on being very English. :D

Wheras he saw enough in Wayne "I swung my leg 50 times and connected once" Rooney to call him up. Hmm.
