Dirk Gently In terms of management and motivation it is exactly like that - the only difference, as I said is that players have a book value :

The only real difference here is that transfer fees are involved.

In the long run all this is of Newcastle's making. If they'd looked to sell him when he said he wanted out they'd now be sat on a British transfer record fee and have a load of P&R flexibility to rebuild the squad. It would also send out the message to "star" names that they can come to Newcastle and the club wouldn't stand in their way to move on if things didn't work out for them, which is now a problem they're going to have on top of being a largely unproven name at the "top" table.

Do feel like Newcastle and PSR shows the likes of City and PSG buying success and then pulling up the drawbridge to stop others copying them. Without PSR, Isak would probably be on top wages and the squad would be strong enough to compete for trophies.

This is the problem with all the current financial restrictions, all it does is stop the big teams, in whichever league, from being caught by smaller outfits so the fans always get the same boring teams dominating the same competitions, very occasionally there's a shock but that never lasts due the financial restrictions.

And it all needs to be changed rather urgently to stop, esp. the big sides from continually developing unethical ways to subvert the rules.

Grealish joins Everton on loan. Feel like he could've done better than that, but might help being the star player again.

It's a perfect platform for him to rebuild his career - if he's up for it.

Sadly it was only a consolation though.
