They just can`t see it can they, so near to Christmas, not much money, on telly, a cold night, team not performing, we`ll be lucky to get 8.000.

The club, STAR, etc. all have to attempt to encourage people to go to games tbf.

What the club (or at least the leadership) is missing is the biggest factor in whether people go to games is the results, or at least on-pitch entertainment. Fireworks; children's entertainment; catering; fanzones; etc. are marginal in 99.9% of people's decisions as whether or not to go.
