Pepe the Horseman Pretty pathetic that Amorim wouldn't watch the pens. Hardly screams strong leader.

Could not agree more. More embarrassing than the defeat itself. Just seen this on the Beeb....

the Beeb As a lifelong United fan, the most disappointing thing tonight was not the loss itself, but the way the manager hid in the dugout crouching down with his hands behind his head during the penalty shootout. Thats not the sign of a true leader, a manager that demands the most from his squad, supporting them at a critical juncture. We need our manager front & centre, inspiring and demanding.

It was the pose of a man who is done. He no longer gives a fcuk as clearly the players do not appear to.

From Despair To Where?
LUX There should be an amnesty during which those that backed the wrong team to reflect glory on them can change to Liverpool, no questions asked.

Lol I know someone who went from Liverpool to Spurs for precisely that reason, mainly because Rodgers was shit and Pochettino was new and sexy. A month later, Liverpool appointed Klopp and it still winds them up when I remind them about it.

Even in our absolute banter years (the last decade), we've still won(/competed for) more than most

I guess from a Man Utd perspective the big disappointment must be that they didn't get undone by a 4th division side that just lumped the ball forward and relied on set pieces-they were outfootballed, at least in the first half and , but for an inept lino, would have gone 3-0 down.

Obviously like most football fans we feel that last night was even better than their 4-0 loss to Dele Ali's MK Dons especially as Man Utd used all of their £200 million front men for a big part of the game and then brought on £40 million Zirkzee but had to rely on the old plodder Maguire to keep them in the game when the ball was lobbed into the box.

What has happened to Mainoo and Diallo?
Have they just been overhyped?
And how have they destroyed a player who was a star turn at Chelsea and had looked destined for a long England career?
As for the keeper........you don't get a lot for £43 million these days.

I agree with FWTD that Ratcliffe may have the midas touch in business but it seems to fail him when it comes to sport.

Sign of a manger who has just realised what a ******* hopeless bunch of players they still are even with the new “stars”.

Probably naive of me to even suggest it, but whatever his failings, he seems like a decent man of principle and I do wonder whether Amorim will do “a Rooney” and just walk away without compensation.

Hard to argue with (spit) Andy Goldstein’s take on it that he looked and sounded “weak and pathetic” the other night.

Whatever, although I have always believed that managers need time, after that display (from him, more than his team) it’s hard to see how he can stay in that job.

And yes, as already asked, what / who next?
