What is his remit compared to the dual-CEOs?

I guess it's fairly normal to recruit people you've worked with before if you think they did a good job back then. However, the risk of doing that too much is that you miss out on new blood and fresh ideas. Furthermore, I would suggest that Reading and Wycombe are very different clubs/businesses, so what worked for Wycombe might not necessarily work at Reading.

Know him and the Peters fam. Couldn't be anymore staunch Wycombe. Never had him down as MD material. Odd appointment.

Had the pleasure of chatting with Mike and Grace Kearney yesterday. They were watching their grandson playing for Yate Town.
Mike was a hard as nails Glaswegian forward who played 150+ games for us in the late 70’s/ early 80’s.. He and Grace then ran the Royals Rendezvous and did various back of house jobs at the club. Mike still does a bit of driving for the Academy teams meaning they have nearly 50 years association with us.

He will succeed in managing the process of management. Firstly by outsourcing the clubs key functions as a business led decision, reflecting his drive and ambition to create an efficient and sustainable model of cost effective growth in fiscal and customer engagement terms through the implementation of tailored CRM and CAFM packages thus safeguarding business continuity and growth……… in all sectors….. blahdy blah.

One imagines that this glowing synopsis of his glittering career is from his LinkedIn profile? Almost as if his background is in marketing and promotion. Should have kept referring to it as WWFC all the way through. People would assume that was Wolves and not a club that went nowhere and achieved nothing on and off the pitch. Gets a massive thumbs up on the Buzzword bingo score though.

It was. Early career in the printing industry as a Production Manager in the newspaper printing industry. Then, surprise, surprise into advertising , commercial, sales & business development! Brief (4 yr) spell in a management role at East Berks College.

I reckon he must have been getting a nosebleed being that far from home territory when he went to Newcastle Racecourse!

I hope he avoids any temptation to overly assist in Tim Kilpatrick's role.

You may not be wrong but it would be a massive mistake IMO as we could end up losing Tim who, also IMO, did so much to help carry our club through The Dark Days of Dai (There's a book title for you Leo/Roger T!) and still managed to come up with things like The Purple Turtle.

Good he's still involved with the club, never had any pace but held the line very well and had a decent first touch for the level he was playing at. Think he also ran the Horse & Jockey in Castle Hill? Assume that's long gone like most other pubs I frequented in Reading that side of town.

I am sure that amongst the skeleton staff that remain, there are those who worked tirelessly to save the club and keep it going for the supporters and town. They are the real heroes. Not Dedwood.
