Hibs are the opposite of that in Scotland right now. 1 win in the first 14 games and were sitting bottom, in the 10 games since then they have had 6 wins, 3 draws and just 1 loss, and are now in the top half of the table

Nice statistical quirk from the PL. Every away side scored at least twice in the second half of their fixture this weekend. In fact had James McAtee not scored City's 6th goal, every away would have scored exactly two second half goals.

In terms of Stats - does anyone know how Soton are trending in line with "beating" Derby's record low of 11 points? I know Derby had won their only game by this point.

If they keep picking up points at this rate then it will be touch and go I think.

Since beating Everton, they have managed 2 points from 33 available.

Maintaining the same ppg will give them 10, to the nearest whole number.

Southampton (24/25) P22 W1 D3 L18 F15 A50 Pts 6
Derby (07/08) P22 W1 D4 L17 F10 A47 Pts 7

Derby actually got to 6 points after 'just' 10 games, after which they drew 5, and lost 23.

Derby also jointly hold the record, with Sheffield United, for fewest goals in a PL season, at 20. Southampton should be okay to 'beat' that one, you imagine.

Sheffield United (20/21) P22 W3 D2 L17 F14 A32 Pts 11

Sheffield United's awful relegation season was an odd one in that, until the wheels fell off a bit towards the end, they were defensively pretty good. 11 of those 17 defeats, in their first 22 games, came by a single goal.

Ronaldo turns 40 today

in his 20's he scored 440 goals, but in his 30's he scored 460. He is now 77 goals away from scoring his 100th, and he has 217 caps for Portugal

absolute machine

Winston Biscuit in his 30's he scored 460.

It's slightly ridiculous. The Jimmy Anderson of football, in that his longevity, and excellence with it, means he has in effect had two 'hall of fame' careers, bolted on to one another. Those 460 goals would put him inside the top 100 goalscorers in football history - and they have all come since he turned 30, an age where some players start to decline.

Zlatan has never won the champions league, not a ground braking stat i'll grant you and i'm sure most of you already knew that. but it surprised me, is there a better player to have never won the CL?

i remember hearing that stat used in conjunction with the other stat about him which was that he won the league 9 seasons in a row but played for 4 different clubs during those 9 seasons

Probably not - and what's ironic is that he's won pretty much everything else he has played in, at one point he won 10 or 11 consecutive league titles with four different clubs.

I wondered if Rivaldo might be another name - but he won it with Milan in the early 2000s.

Eusebio only won it once, as a 19 year old and before much of his incredible career.

Maybe the best other candidate is Ruud Van Nistelrooy. With 57 goals, no-one has scored more in the Champions League and not won it, and he never played in a final. In fact Van Nistelrooy's list of personal honours is quite short given his talent. Just five domestic league titles (two with Ajax, two Real, one United) and two domestic cups.

Tangenitally - on a list of football legends and stalwarts, I notice that Barry Hayles has recorded the 6th highest number of official appearances in the professional game. He retired only two years ago aged 50, having played 1,188 games.

Had a look to check...

Inter 06-07, 07-08, 08-09
Barcelona 09-10
Milan 10-11, 11-12
PSG 12-13, 13-14, 14-15, 15-16

Kingsley Coman did 11 in a row with three clubs (PSG, Juventus, Bayern), which ended when Bayern failed to win the league last season.

AC Milan didn't win Serie A in 2011-12 (Juve went undefeated), so he can't have won it 9 times in a row.

Saw him live for PSG, but I was only there for Joey Barton, really.

Indeed, misread on my part, was 21-22 that he won his second title with Milan.

Arne Slot's 60 points from 25 games (W18 D6 L1) is the second best start to a manager's Premier League 'career', behind Mourinho's 64 points in 2004/05 (W20 D4 L1).

Only once have all three of the promoted sides to the premier league been relegated. It was 1997/98 season.

It’s very much looking like this season will the second season.

Ally McCoist played more games for Rangers in the 1980's than he did in the 1990's
