Why would anyone spend £10m on a striker who spends 50% of the season on the treatment table & another 25% being completely ineffective. Granted the remaining 25% he is shit hot and bangs the goals in, but for that price surely clubs would be looking for a better outcome

Yeah £5m to me seems like the maximum to me as well, especially with only a year left on his contract. If he had a 3 year deal, then yeah I'd be fishing for £10m. I get the feeling it will end up being £4m ish though.

Where did the idea we're looking to sell Joao come from? Mr Dai has a history of not selling players.

Is it because we see him as one of our most sellable assets and is on a relatively high wage? Who has actually been linked with him?

It's a completely different situation though now because we aren't making a last ditch attempt to make the Premier League, we are actually a million miles away now because of our restrictions. We aren't in "need every penny we can get" territory, but we do need incomings to drive down our losses over the last 3 or 4 years and with Joao being possibly our most valuable asset, it would be an ideal time to sell rather than leave for a free.

He is also probably one of our highest earners now, even though he (along with 2/3 others) are dwarfed by Moore. So in terms of sellable assets and high earner, he's probably both. A host of clubs have been linked apparently, Middlesbrough, Nottingham Forest, Norwich, Watford, Burnley etc.

Loris Karius, Sheyi Ojo, and Ben Woodburn all leave Liverpool.

Ojo might be worth a look. Karius I would be delighted with but we'd have no chance. Woodburn never really kicked on after a good start to his pro career, no thanks.

Ojo is someone I'd be pleased with for sure, Woodburn I'd be happy enough with to help fill the squad out, Karius would be a straight up no for more reasons than one.

Could see us going for Woodburn for that exact reason. Still only 22 so maybe not a completely lost cause.

Woodburn I’d look at given his age, Ojo is 24 though and didn’t really stand out in a struggling Cardiff last season so I’m not convinced however Reading were reportedly after him a season or two ago so a move there may not be out of the question.

Would presume Karius is decent but he’s always looked a bit “iffy” for Liverpool esp. in that CL final a few years back not sure he’d be the best option for a club in Reading’s current malaise.

Was he not at Millwall last season? Not that it really matters as he's never really stood out anywhere he has been but got some decent all around ability along with plenty of experience at various Championship clubs so there would be worse players to get, such as Brandon Barker for instance that we ended up with.

No Woodburn is done I feel. I was at the Austria game when he scored that belter at 17 and thought he had a great future. He has simply not done anything wherever he has gone since then. His future is in League two where hopefully he can find some form and make his way up.

No thank you on Karius. He's terrible! Don't want anymore error prone keepers

If he had more than a year, we should be looking qt more than twice £5m, so think it's perfectly reasonable.

I would love to see our finances now in full detail. With the amount of players gone over the past 12 months with more to come, our wage turnover surely must be one of the lowest in the league??!!

Wonder what hideous percentage of our wage bill is currently paid to Moore?

Hound Wonder what hideous percentage of our wage bill is currently paid to Moore?

Moore is currently between 9% and 12% of the club's entire budget for next season.

£30k a week times 52 weeks is £1.56m. Factors like National Insurance not included.

Some suggestions he's actually on £35k a week.

I think it's about 10%, depending on what source you use. It might even be slightly above 10% actually as our wage bill might be something around the £290k a week mark now, whereas Moore reportedly earns £30k a week.

I'd say of those still contracted - Moore, Meite, Joao, Puscas, Ejaria, McIntyre, Dann and Tetek

We're probably looking at between £4.5m and £7m.

Leaving between £9m and £12.5m to spend on wages for the other ~17 players we'll need. Or £10k - £13.5k each, ignoring any academy players, staff etc.
