I don't get the constant self loathing some RFC fans indulge in.

From Despair To Where? Arbroath currently 1-0 up at half time away to closest rivals Kilmarnock in the Scottish Championship.
A win would put them 2 points clear with a game to play and a +4 advantage in goal difference.
Would be an incredible story to see them in the SPL, although they would probably have to groundshare with one of the Dundee teams.

Despite being dead and buried pre-christmas, looked like they had clawed out of the mire…only to fall back into it again.
Lots of (biggish) ex-league teams scrapping it out again in the Conference next season.

Yeah the National league is starting to look like the 4th division from the late 80s/early 90s.

Not blaming you DD but once again we have an example of football being invented when the Premier League was invented and all things prior to then being regarded as irrelevant.
I can think of Oxford and Luton but nobody else at the moment that has fallen the same distance and nowadays if a club is managed reasonably (a big "f" perhaps) that gets to the Premier League really shouldn't fall that far what with the massive TV Revenue and parachute payments.
Maybe Derby will spiral further down and be the first ex-champions of the top level to disappear into non-league.
