6ft Kerplunk
NathStPaul I'm pretty sure there was a lad playing French youth football claiming to be 12. He was about 6'2 and there were videos of him doing the rounds just knocking small children out of the way and scoring a goal. Hate to generalise but it does seem to be pretty much an African thing.

I dunno, in Jnr II's match at the week one of the other team was about 6'2 and he was doing much the same.

When we used to play Gillotts at rugby they were all about 7ft.

Really think that’s a missed opportunity for some Prem teams - I’m looking at the likes of Spurs and West Ham here, to add some squad depth to depleted squads

There’s still a lot of work in his game that needs refining (and I’m not sure it ever will tbh) but his pace is terrifying for defenders

Calum Chambers joins Aston Villa on a free transfer. I don’t understand that, I thought Arsenal were fairly depleted at the back, I don’t see the harm in holding onto someone as versatile as him, even if he isn’t quite at the level. Same with AMN - it’s a risk from Arsenal

A lazy luxury. He'll shine at that slower paced level, but defensively he's a liability. Bullet dodged by Spurs.

+1

Watch him become a regular in the Spain team based on his performances as well.

Yeah, I think that's about right, albeit a bit of a paradox that someone could win a bunch of caps for Spain but be a liability in the PL.

Spurs apparently set to continue to be Spursy in the transfer market - they want Porto's Colombian winger Luis Diaz instead, but Guardian, Fabrizio Romano and various other Twitter journalists say that Liverpool have hijacked the deal and have a verbal agreement with Diaz for his signature.

Brazil defensive midfielder Bruno Guimaraes set to join Newcastle for £33m from Lyon.

And Arsenal signing USA keeper Matt Turner from New England Revolution, as backup to Ramsdale (who I think I hugely underrated, he has been excellent for Arsenal).

Traore deal with Barca is a loan with €30m option to buy in the summer.

listened to an interesting chat on a football podcast this morning where they were talking about the impact of the pandemic on transfers and contracts and how 2 years into Covid we are now seeing quite a number of high profile players running their contracts down to a point that they wouldn't have before (many top players who have contracts running out at the end of next season).

Basically because there is less money being spent on transfer fee's with clubs having less and also being put off by watching those that spent big and it went wrong, players are trying to take control of that by making their transfer fee lower, or non existent. This also obv means their wages can be higher. The suggestion was that we may likely start seeing more free transfers happening, with higher wages and signing on fee's being paid but those wages will be structured much more towards performance based bonuses (they used Turkey as an example where apparently that is fairly standard) to avoid a Bale/Hazard/Coutinho situation and more release clauses being put into contracts.

Thought he’d fit in perfectly at RF there, Spurs are quite limited there, not a fan of Moura and Bergwijn flatters to deceive

Looks like the left sided winger Luis Diaz has completed, or is about to complete, his move from Porto to Liverpool for around £54m. Origi and/or Minamino now expected to exit.

Fulham's Fabio Carvalho (born in Portugal but represents England, having moved here as a kid) on his way to Liverpool for around £7m, but expected to finish the season on loan at his current club.

Donny Van Beek to be confirmed on loan to Everton for the rest of the season, becoming Lampard's first signing.

United accepted a loan offer from Bordeaux for Phil Jones, but the player has decided he'd rather sit on his arse and earn money for nothing.

Ousmane Dembele to PSG appeared to be a thing, but that deal now appears to have gone quiet, and whilst it won't have to happen today, rumours growing that Michael Edwards' parting gift to Liverpool (on top of Diaz and Carvalho) will be Paulo Dybala on a free transfer.
