Mid Sussex Royal Can't work out whether Pauno is god or lucky; win at Blackburn and I'm leaning towards god.

I’m thinking the same

Can one of you with your database/spreadsheet tell us how many games it took to get to 19 points in the last, say, 5 seasons ?

If we can beat both Blackburn AND Coventry I’m leaning towards Kebe-in-disguise.

Last 2 seasons have seen teams needing 81 and 83 points to get promoted automatically and 70 and 73 points to get into the play offs

We have 19 from 7 games already so for automatic would roughly need another 63 from 39 games to reach 82 which would be 1.62 points per game.

For play off qualifications we would roughly need another 53 from 39 which would be 1.36 points per game

So, if you add together our points haul from the first 7 games of each of the last three seasons, you get 20 points.

I think it's safe to say this one has been better.

So a sequence of win one, lose one for the rest of the season gets us into the play-offs.
If that were the case we could lose 19 or even 20 and still get there.
Cut out any draws and we are in the play-offs, win about 3 more than we lose and we are up.

Not beyond the realms of possibility and it shows what an impact, as Andrew posted, a good start like ours could lead to.

Meanwhile back on planet pessimism.............................................we only need to win about 9 to stay up.

Win the next three and after ten games we'll be over halfway to safety.

An update on my original thinking: I still think we're doing ok.

Cheers.

That’s three goal conceded now.

We have got to sort that out!

Pauno out

Due to being up with a son who refused to sleep this morning I did some quick maths:

To get to 50 points (accepted safety mark) we need 0.75 points a game following this start

1.25 points per game gets us to 70 points, which whilst unlikely could be enough for a play-off berth.

1.4 points per game (close to going W1 D1 L1 every 3 games) will get us to 75 and pretty much guaranteed a play-off spot.

W 1 L1 or 1.5pts a game gets us 79 and borderline autos

1.6pts per game gets us to 83 so likely 2nd, 1.8PPG gets us to 90 and likely Champions.
