Stoke player tested positive for Covid so their friendly V Man U tonight postponed.

If they've started contact training which assume they have our game will likely be off.

No idea - but reported in the Mirror (via Twitter) so assume true. I'm sure I also read Arsenal beat Charlton 6-0 the other day.

Stoke confirm manager Michael O’Neil has tested positive for COVID-19.

At this stage the game isn’t in jeopardy, he’ll just sit it out as he now needs to go in to isolation.

Although the next round of EFL testing could be a game changer - of course he may well have passed it on to other staff and players. Big week ahead for Stoke now.

So footballis operating under it’s own set of quarantine rules ?
For the rest of us surely he’d be listing his contacts and they would be in for 14 days isolation woukdn’t They ?
Presumably he has not been within 2m of any players or staff ?

He could easily have been social distancing

Indeed, he could equally easily have not been. Is the assumption in the game that while players will not be given they re contact training coaches and managers will be without fail ? Presumably physios and masseurs won’t be though.
Are stoke travelling down on Saturday in their own cars or by coach ?

That would certainly be my assumption, at least that they're trying to social distance, just like in normal people life

Possibly a massive assumption though given that football is instinctively a game and culture involving lots of close contact... I’m sure they will be doing the right things and I guess the fact that positive tests haven’t really shown up in big clusters indicates that.

So is life.

Probably best to leave them to it and not try to second guess it without any knowledge of the actual situation.

Michael O’Neill now tested positive so Stoke are likely to be “managed” by Billy McKinlay next Saturday.

Surprised a player contracted to Reading Football Club played for Reading Football Club? What else surprises you in life?

Yeah I have tested positive for knowing that contracted footballers play for the club they are contracted to.

Think the aim is just to give as many players a run out as possible to regain some sort of match fitness before next Saturday. If Blackett can contribute for the rest of the season, he can be a useful asset for us although haven't heard anything on the out of contract players yet

Further friendly on Saturday against Spurs lined up
