Conor Lawless is very good value - bit of a show pony but quality on the ball and very quick over the ground for a central midfielder. Couple of really neat touches that got him out of tight spaces. Think he's only 16? So if he learns a bit of sense then we have a very neat player on our hands.

Jack Nolan looked good when he came on. Tom McIntyre was very solid at the back- won everything in the air.

Would much rather Nolan had started than Harriot, who was very wasteful.

Not quite sure why you are being harsh on Harriot- i was pleased he got 90 mins under his belt and thought he looked fit and over his injury. He wasn`t afraid to get stuck in and in my opinion should be considered for the 1st team bench now.

Don't really disagree with any of that. I just thought Harriot didn't fit in too well and consequently was a little wasteful. For my own selfish reasons, I'd rather see a kid play and fit in and play some nice passing moves than have a first teamer use it as a training exercise.

When that first teamer has been out for two years he needs all the training exercises he can get.

Another England goal for Loader

Wonder how long he can be kept out of our first team set up

Would love to see him as a regular in the squad from this point on

Royals and Racers Josh Barrett has joined Aldershot on a month`s loan.

I'm a bit worried about this one... Barrett seems to be digressing

Looks like he started and got the assist (/took the corner) in their 1-1 FA cup game v Bradford, before coming off just before the hour mark. Sounds like it could have been abandoned for a waterlogged pitch so hard to really judge, but the initial reports seem promising.

The loan looks a bit like last chance saloon for Barrett, but he is contracted with us until the summer of 2021

Not sure scoring a goal against Moldova U19s particularly shouts you're ready for a Championship relegation battle.

I've got high hopes for the guy but he's still very young and the step up from U19 football, even at International level is a really big one, especially if you want to play up front. Having only just turned 18 he's got plenty of time to develop skills wise and get a bit more strength.

Dom Samuel scored goals for England at U19 level and really struggled when making that jump to Championship level.

Give him time and a good loan move, though the odd bench appearance when form's improved wouldn't go amiss!

Alex McCarthy capped by England today, does that make him the first Reading academy graduate to be capped by England?
