George Evans

by Rax » 04 Apr 2017 21:17

I'd actually forgotten that this young man played for us!

Is he injured, out of favour??

I would guess the latter given Kelly's emergence but con anyone confirm?

Been good this season. Pretty sure he's injured.

It's great to see such depth in areas of the squad when a player as good as Evans isn't missed, similarly last night I completely forgot about McShane.

I agree but it wasn't that long ago where missing one of Moore or McShane pretty much guaranteed a heavy defeat. Our performances have come along way since Preston away - it's miraculous what a bit of confidence can do.

With Ilori back, Oxford playing well, McShane shortly back and Moore an absolute rock, hopefully we've seen the end of Blackett at CB.

With the way Blackett has played in the last couple of games he's a genuine contender for selection at centre back. I was a big critic of his, and he still has to work on a few things but you can see now why Jaap signed him.

Blackett is a decent CB. Not mad on him at LB but he does a job if Obita is unavailable

I suspect he'll stick with Blackett at LB though

His best position is the left CB in a back 3. Whilst he's looked suspect (at best) in all, and especially anywhere in a back 4, his last two performances have been head and shoulders above previous.

I like Evans. One of the few positives to come out of McDermott's second spell. A quietly effective player that you don't really notice but who tends to be at the heart of everything.

Give them a couple of years to fill out and him, Kelly and Swift have the makings of a brilliant midfield three, not that all 3 of them will still be here in a couple of years.

McDermott's signings - Kermie and Evans - were both excellent. Its a shame both were pretty poor in his time here.

Evans is a good player, like him a lot. He has a bit to learn in terms of physically dominating a bit more - I think he is a little soft at the moment. Its noticeable when VDB plays that we are a bit stronger in midfield. Still, sure it will come in time

It just suggests that the whole vibe was rotten and the problem was with certain areas of the squad, not with McDermott or his players.

well yes,

We had infighting at the training ground. Infighting in the boardroom.

Brian was evidently brought in to fail (with the hands that he had been dealt and the people that were dealing them).....Jaap has been the perfect foil.....he takes no prisoners and is slowly reversing the mentality of our clubs decision makers.

All comes good in the end, for us........everytime :)

ex-Prem and Championship teams languishing in Div 1&2 aren't so lucky

We have had it relatively easy in comparison
