Preston (A) Team and Predictions

by Royal_jimmy » 09 Mar 2017 08:21

I think it'll be an unchanged side except for Evans in for Moore:

Al Habsi, Gunter, McShane, VdB, Blackett, McCleary, Evans, Kelly, Mutch, Grabban, Kermorgant

However, based on Tuesdays game, I hope he plays this team:

Back 5: Al Habsi, Gunter, McShane, Blackett, Obita

Midfield: VdB, Kelly, Swift

Forwards: McCleary, Kermorgant, Beerens

Subs: Jaakkola, Dickie, Williams, Evans, Mutch, Meite, Grabban

I am confident for this one if we play like we did at Huddersfield on tuesday although I'd much rather win against Sheffield Wednesday than on Saturday if we can't win both

Preston are no mugs and have beaten Brighton and Huddersfield at home this season

Scoreline I will go for Preston 1-2 Reading

think he'll start the team that ended against Newcastle

Prediction: It'll be wet, muddy cold and windy, lose 2-0 to two crappy set pieces and never look like getting anything from the game. Preston fans will wander back to their nearest pub, order a pie and single pint and say 2 things to each other all night which will be 'North End would never wear a kit like that' and 'These soft southern teams don't like to mix it'

can't be any worse than what we endured last year watching 10 african violet lemmings simply stroll around for 90 minutes, was genuinely embarrassed to be a reading fan walking away from the ground that day.

Will be there once again and off the back of a strong performance I'm hopeful of a result.

1-2

Kermogant ' 72
Grabban '83

Jesus I'd almost forgotten how bad it was, though tbf you could say the same for most of our (away) games last season.

-------------------------Ali---------------------
------------McShane-----Blackett----------
-Gunter-------------vdB--------------Obita
---------Williams-------------Swift----------
--GMac-----------------------------Beerens-
-------------------Kermorgant---------------

Partway through the game switch to have Kermorgant partner Grabban and maybe give Popa a run out.

Swift seems to be improving and Evans sounds like he's slightly injured or not entirely fit, so give him a rest. We miss Williams when he doesn't play.

Always want to see Evans play, but given Joey's last appearance he can't drop out.

I think Obita will come in for Moore, Beerens will come in for Grabban and Williams for Kelly. I think it would be hard to argue against that too.

I'm going 2-1 Reading
McCleary, Beerens

They were having a one way chat contest in the concourse at half time, ruined my swift pint experience.

They also madly celebrated Preston's goal, which was a nice touch.

Does remind me of a Burnley away game, can't remember which season, when there were a bunch of Hereford fans in the away end, their game had been called off, but they were a good laugh, helped that we won, i think?

Preston at home was far worse. Amazing to think how far we've come in less than a year.

Before the Newcastle game I was thinking we had a serious chance of three, even four consecutive defeats

H Newcastle
A Preston
A Wednesday
H Leeds

It still worries me, but if we manage four points from these four games I think we will then be safe for top six as we have some easier games to come. Preston are a good side that had a terrible start to the season. It's a game we could lose by a good margin.

BUT I think Tuesday's VG performance will have lifted the team and I'm a lot more hopeful. Right now I'd be happy to make the one draw we have into four on the bounce (but please can we beat Leeds)

that was possibly the worst, most passionless performance I have ever seen. Probably sealed Brian's fate

Agree, unbelievable to go from that to top 5 this season

Epitomised by a 17-year-old coming off the bench and looking head and shoulders above the whole team.

IIRC wasn't that one of the games with Kuhl in charge after we sacked Clarke?

100% agree with the rest though. Disgraceful performance.
