Interested to know your thoughts... Personally think he'd only leave us for the chance to manage Ajax / Netherlands.

He'd leave us for a mid table prem club, a club say like, Everton. If a contract was on the table from a club like Everton Stam and his agent would not give Reading a second thought. Bigger stage, bigger budget, bigger challenge, better opportunity.

Reading will always be his first proper managerial club but I think he'll push on from us, maybe not this season but we'll be lucky to get 2 full seasons out of him.

Happy to have him here for as long as it lasts though.. He's been the dogs nuts

In Soith Africa Vim/Jif/Cif is known as Handy Andy. Has a mastabatory air to it don't you think?

The best kind of air, imo.

I don't think he would leave us, not at the moment.

He has achieved nothing as yet and if there's one thing I've learned about him from reading his autobiography and interviews throughout his career, he has a perfectionist's streak which compels him to see a job through.

I don't think he'll leave whilst he sees the job half done. If he gets us promoted, he may see that as job done but I get the feeling he likes having this ongoing project that he can stamp his identity and personality on and it would take something really special to tempt him.

the other factor is the takeover. If it happens and he has some money to spend and no pressure to sell the likes of Swift, Kelly and Moore who surely must be getting some interest, then I think he'll stay and build the team.

If he starts having to sell players and continued uncertainty then it may change his mind.

Voted other as I dont think league position would be a factor in his moving. For example Swansea who have had 3 managers this season are on the same points as Leicester, the reigning champs. He would probably take the Leicester job if it were available..

Above them are Boro and Bournemouth. Slightly less interesting jobs you'll agree.

As I commented on the other, almost identical thread, he's here to complete a project.
I agree that if conditions became untenable for him he would leave but as long as he continues to get the level of support he has had from the owners he's here to turn us into a premiership club.
I think he has a realistic attitude about where he wants to go. He has shown by the way he has approached his managerial career that he is not interested in following the money. He spent several years at Ajax learning his trade and I think he will want to follow the same model with us.
I see him much in the mould of Eddie Howe, who seems happy building his own success story rather than looking for moves to where the grass may be greener (Howe learning from his Burnley escapade).

Reading is a long term project. An opportunity to learn and gain experience. He'll leave when the time is right and he take Reading further no longer. One thing for sure is that he'll leave us a great legacy the day he does. With the playing side of the club in it's best shape for years.
