BR0B0T Was surprised that it was a red but don't blame Jones...It looks like it hurt.

That's exactly what Phil Jones wanted you to think.

FWIW the lack off an offside decision for Zlatan's goal was far more of a shambles than the red card. Having said that I did enjoy Niall Quinn and Alan Smith destroying Mike Dean at half time

John Madejski's Wallet
Jack Celliers Like with Vardy and with the two other fouls recently, I feel I am missing something. I don't get the controversy.

For me, as soon as Feghouli left the ground with both feet and launched himself at Jones, he lost control and a red card was a possibility. He was extremely late as well - Jones had already cleared the ball. Why is that not possibly a red card and one of the worst decisions a ref could make?

It will be rescinded, because everybody says it should be, but I don't think it was a ridiculous decision from Mike Dean.

It's because he's not launching in feet first, meaning although he's off the ground, he is still in control. Its the feet-first leap that ensures a player is out of control as they can't pull out and all their weight is behind their challenge

Thanks.

That makes a little bit of sense.

He clearly couldn't pull out of the challenge as he clattered into Jones after the ball was gone. His full weight is behind it as he's off the ground and can't change direction/pull out. Its not a vicious two footed studs up lunge at kneecap level but he's not in control and although I'd have said a yellow would have been suffice you can see why it was given a red.

The daft thing is that Jones whacked the West Ham player harder and then , with great gymnastic skill, managed to go into reverse and roll over 4 times.
Despite seeming to break his leg he was up and sprinting within a minute-what a brave little soldier.

I thought this as well tbh, from the replays I have seen, he did one roll (which momentum would probably take you and then was on his back clutching his shin).

Don't think it was an overreaction at all :|

Are you sure?
I know it is lalmost 24 hours ago and my memory may not be as good as it was but I would swear that he rolled so much that he nearly ended up with the fans behind the goal.

it was one complete roll, but fair play, it always looks like 4 90 degree movements/phases

Only judging from those stills, but I've always thought a major factor in the dangerousness of a challenge is whether you're going in in opposition or directly at a player. Whereas if you're going across or past them and catch a leg on follow through it's a different matter. In which case that one's far from the worst example.

Think the laws of physics are going to disagree with you

Out of control or not Feghouli couldn't possibly do any real damage with those freakishly small feet.

He had zero impact on the game.

Even Schweinsteiger did more than him.
