PREVIEW WATCH : Preston North End (h)

by Sutekh » 04 Aug 2016 12:45

A nice shiny new season with nice shiny new optimisms approaches fast. How long those optimisms will stick around for remains to be seen

Reading can't really be any worse than the last couple of seasons of crap at home and are currently on a run of no wins in 7 league games (6 defeats and a draw)

Season opener sees the same opponents from last seasons home season closer roll back into town when the usual substandard Reading attempt at football prevailed in a 2-1 defeat.

Preston will certainly be without defender Callum Woods who is likely to miss the whole season with knee ligament damage, Simon Grayson is currently in the market for a loan replacement. Their team will be pulled from this lot

Keepers

James
Hudson
Maxwell
Lindegaard

Defenders

Cunningham
Clarke
Wright
Davies
Huntington
Smith
Grimshaw
Spurr

Midfielders

Pearson
Humphrey
Johnson
Gallagher
Browne
Welsh
Pringle

Forwards

Beckford
Garner
May
Hugill
Makienok
Doyle
Robinson

Reading will be missing Bond, McCleary and possibly Mendes and Kermorgant

A 4-3-3 is expected but who comprises that is going to be anybody's guess with, I think, only Gunter, McShane and possibly Williams definitely sure to be in the starting line up at the moment.

Liam Moore may also make a debut for Reading should the deal being worked on with Leicester be sorted out in the next 24 hours or so.

Refereeing this will be Andy Davies from Hampshire

Dan Cook and Darren "The Amazing Mr" Blunden will be running up and down the touchline waving flags at things

James Linington is the spare official

Mr Davies will be looking after Reading for the third time, all of which have been home games with mixed results... so a draw anyone?

15 Sep 2015 > Derby County (h) L 0-1
18 Jan 2014 > Bolton Wanderers (h) 7-1

Very similar results in the league between the sides down the years. Basically they're utter crap in Berkshire and we're more or less equally utterly crap in Lancashire. Since joining the league we've amassed 15 home wins from 25 games with 4 defeats and 6 draws making up the numbers (at their place we've managed just 4 wins and 5 draws from 25 league games).

Also, forgot to mention, the North Stand will be officially unveiled as the Eamonn Dolan stand and players will be wearing black armbands and I believe a minute's silence/applause will be observed before kick off.
