Could we afford to let Williams go based on options we have?

Must be worth at least couple of million

Ian Royal Al-Habsi
Gunter - McShane - Campi - Obita
Norwood - Van der Berg - Quinn
McCleary - Rakels - Swift

But hard to judge at this point whether the newbies are step ups or not. Mendes record and youtube clip really didn't impress me... whereas Swift seems a solid bet and Campi looks great, should we get him.

Al-Habsi
Gunter - McShane - Campi - Obita
Norwood - Van der Berg - Quinn
Beerens - Rakels - Swift

Vs

Fosu - Samuel - McCleary
Evans - Kuhl - Williams
Reach - Cooper - Gravenberch - Keown
Jaaskolt

Still leaves Stacey, Dickie, Hyam, Mendes, Kermorgant, Kelly, Bond, Tanner etc no place.
Including Campi because he's actually with the squad so looks clear we can have him if we want.

Lower West Continental teams don't play a rigid 4-3-3. With some more technical players in the side there'll be fluidity.

Of all the midfield players Norwood now seems the most at risk. Offers very little defensively. Nor is crossing consistant enough.

I'd hope/expect, with the amount of DCMs being signed that the intention is to allow the fullbacks to push up the pitch, with the holding of the 3 midfielders pushing back into CB when we go forward and the other CB's pushing wide to cover (so more like 3-4-3 when attacking). Would be good to see Obita/Gunter being able to press more.

Seeing vdB covering in defence suggests this could well be an option?

Looks like a lot of utility players being signed, so Stam is aiming for versatility to allow the fluidity being mentioned here?
