Lower West Dickie had a good 45 minute debut away at Blackburn in the last game of the season playing at right back. Possible stand in cover.

Saw him play a few times for U18s a few years back. Looked decent. If you could imagine Pearce with the ability to run and also to pass.

This time last season we had a thread bare squad and you lot were suggesting Fosu and Stacey were going to get their chance then...McShane and Quinn turn up.

It's early July lads, chill out please.

SCIAG Current squad (wet youngsters within touching distance in italics):

Al Habsi, Bond, Moore (it would be great to have our two goalkeepers called Bond and Moore), Ward

Gunter, Keown, Long, Watson

Obita, Griffin

McShane, Cooper, Gravenbach, Keown, Dickie, Hyam

Norwood, Quinn, Williams, Evans, Van Der Berg, Kuhl, Kelly (,Tshibola)

McCleary, Rakels, Stacey, Fosu, Tanner, Barrett

Kermogant, Rakels, Samuel, Barrett

I'm distinctly underwhelmed. I don't think any of those strikers are odds-on for ten goals, and we've only got one senior winger plus a few fill-ins. We've only got ten players who are proven at this level. If all the kids come good or we add a couple of players then we could fly, but right now the squad looks like it needs five or six additions to make it into a playoff side.

i'll take that BET and give me odds that one of these strikers will score 10 goals.

I like Rakels for it. Quietly chipping away with the odd poached goal here and there early in the season followed by a big January/February. He plays a little deeper and I think he has a touch more technical ability, but thre's a lot of similarities between him and Le Fondre to my eye.

If we are playing 4-3-3 I fancy Rakels to do well on the left side of that 3 just a little bit deeper than the main striker. Seems the kind of player Stam would like too.

Royal Ginger Liburd, Tshibola, Hurtado and Fernandez weren't playing and Piazon, Cox and Taylor were bit part players at best, so I'm not too worried, the squad was a bit heavy last year anyway.

It was heavy, but Robson-Kanu has gone now..

With Mendes coming in with what we have so far , would this be fair as a sort of first versus second team considering its 4-3-3

(Red being the first team)

if you want to make your own team the link is http://lineupbuilder.com/new.php, then you need to save in fotoshop

The back five almost picks itself, depending on Gravenberch really. The midfield three is pretty obviously Quinn and two of Norwood, Williams and Van der Berg and with decent cover available in Evans, Kuhl and Barrett. The front three is an absolute mess of mediocrity and uncertainty though.

Kermorgant - leads the line but not very well and doesn't really score goals
Samuel - made of glass and untested at this level
Rakels - tries but seemed lacking in end product
Mendes - largely unknown quantity
Fosu - flair but questionable work rate and teamwork, barely tested at this level
Tanner - barely tested at this level and development stalled a bit
McCleary - more a right winger and hasn't really lived up to his standard for two years
Stacey - barely tested at this level and more a right winger
Hurtado - got nowhere near the first team last year and more a right winger
Barrett - seems more an attacking midfielder than a forward, barely tested at this level

I make that nine options, none I'd really have confidence picking for the slots we seem to have available.

Kermorgant - A downgrade on POG...
Samuel - God I hope he does something this season. 22 and not broken into the first team? Something must be up
Rakels - I know nothing about this guy other than he tries hard. Is he just a downgrade of ALF?
Mendes - Shit on FM16
Fosu - Flavour of the month last summer
Tanner - Where is his best position?
McCleary - Severe dip in form
Stacey - Promising no?
Hurtado - Who knows.
Barrett - Flavour of the month.
