Are Reading next seasons Charlton?

by Lower West » 27 May 2016 16:29

One wonders. Today this is how bad the relationship has become between the board and the supporters.

"After consideration, the Charlton Athletic Supporters' Trust have now made a formal complaint to the FA regarding comments made by CEO Katrien Meire earlier this month.

We have asked The FA to investigate a breach of conduct regulations and the possibility of bringing the game into disrepute."

Are we on a slippery slope downwards?

To Be honest I think it is more likely if we carry on the same way we could be the next blackpool, if reports are right we have a thread bare squad, with no manager or staff in place to recruit and a board that seem to be very trigger happy. at the moment if things dont change and fast we are a blackpool sized mess not a charlton sized mess.

Pingpong balls at the ready....whether we will be a Charlton....who knows?

We are todays laughing stock tho'....how many managers since 2012?...and why employ someone to sack them after only 6 months and without the chance to manage his own team?.....a massive FAIL and the joke is on our hierarchy....we're doomed

I make it 15 senior players at the club right now (not counting the young pros with few or no minutes under their belts). We're in a much better position than Blackpool were.

We also signed a player and sold a player this week, which suggests we're not worried about having a manager and can keep recruiting.

I'm as pissed off as anyone but the world is not ending.

The Charlton comparison seems like a good one and is pretty much what I expect. I think our squad is better, although we lack goalscorers, wingers, and full back cover.

Flores cited his relationship with the board as a reason of instigating the break clause in his contract at Watford. Seems as if there's far wider issues in the way clubs are being run at the top.

The world isn't ending but the Reading Football Club that I loved has died.

I have no confidence in the Thai's. I only see us sliding down the leagues and becoming a much weaker club in the future. We will find our level again in Leagues One and Two. The competitive Championship club that Madejski built that could enjoy occasional seasons in the Premier League are now most likely over.

I agree

I'm fcked off with the club, disappointed, angry and confused.

However I do think people are being dramatic saying we are doomed. We are definitely going to be relegated.

My prediction - none of it will happen. Next season will be better than the one just gone and we will finish mid table again.

Sadly, Windemere, you're track record in these things makes it extremely difficult to agree with your assertion.

I'm a bit mixed in my views as well - on the one hand, I can see why BMac was sacked ... I mean all those people excusing his abject failure have to remember that many managers join squads in a much worse state than ours and manage to improve results. Look at Sunderland as an example ... and Birmingham a few seasons ago. You've got to wonder whether Brian has simply not got it - and whether his previous success was just a bit of a fluke, as he's not done anything wherever he's been since then.

On the other hand, unless we get a proven replacement in - and not some guy who is a big name but with zilch track record of a) management or b) succeeding in the Championship - I'd seriously wonder whether the board are simply clueless when it comes to football. And that worries me. But until the new manager is appointed, I'll reserve judgement ... for now.

We're at a crossroads, so it's imperative we (rather the owners) get the big decisions right or it could get a whole lot worse, but the situation can also be salvaged fairly swiftly by a reasonable managerial appointment ...

They've been getting all the big decisions wrong. That is why we're a club in free fall.

I think we could end up being next season's Suzanne Charlton tbh.

No chance. We can't match them when it comes to beach balls. And anyway we're switching from inflatable dolphins to canoes. BTW this ol' managerial lark's taking a while ain' it. Keeping us all in 'suspenders'. Right up to the last minute.
