Top Flight I didn't see his interview but it does show I guess based on your comments that the manager is working in a very difficult environment. A lot of our problems stem more from poor leadership from the very top. Not from the team managers position. In this kind of environment, I wouldn't want anyone other than Brian managing the team. Brian is a true character. Weaker men like Clarke are ready to jump ship at the first sign that things won't be easy.

Brian kept improving us year after year despite having to sell the best players each transfer window. Brian thrives in adversity. Useless whingers like Clarke just try to walk away. We need someone with loyalty and some backbone right now and Brian is our man. Long live Brian.

Thats a good post.

Or that Clarke isn't a YES man like BM.

Tails How much money did Clarke need? I thought he was quite well supported last summer.

Perhaps if he'd not spread his signings so far bringing in the likes of Hurtado, Semedo, Liburd and Fernandez who've barely had a kick, he might have been able to do slightly better than Sa, or PIazon, or John.

I tried to warn you!

Lower West Fair to say with hindsight that he was the wrong man for the job.

Correct.

But could have been so different if we had signed Mackie.

I'm not looking to convince anyone either, just wondered what you were basing your opinion on because I can't think of a single player who's performed better for McDermott than they did for Clarke, apart from Al Habsie that is.

McDermott shook them out of their collective malaise of October/November but I'm not sure any individual has played any better, consistently that is.

The team has been more solid and better balanced as McDermott got them working a bit harder but, more importantly, sorted out the balance in the side that Clarke had totally lost.

I think Cox does better under Brian than under Clarke, who'd given up on him.

I am gutted that Brian is not getting better results than Clarke; but I have to say I am enjoying watching the team more. They look an almost decent team at times and better than the points they are winning, in my opinion. So I am still full of hope.

Some of the players have been in similarly point-starved teams under all three managers, so maybe it is something to do with the way they play too. They do not pass accurately to each other enough, and I think this comes from a hit-and-hope mentality that settles for the fact that close enough will be good enough once in a while.

I would not mind seeing some of our better long-term players such as McCleary, Gunter, Robson-Kanu, Obita out of the club if it means clearing us of the losing mentality. I don't suppose that will happen, but I suspect they will turn out the same almost-good-but-a-bit-off performances under any manager. I'd like to see more players at the club with visible passion rather than passive acceptance that we are not really going anywhere.

how can you persevere with a guy who doesn't score ? It's not like SC didn't give him a chance ... Results count, we don't get any points for style or presentation !

Maneki Neko i just did!

not sure its worth compiling a list. im not trying to convince you
to me its pretty obvious. but you watch the same games as me, if you've not noticed any, then me listing names isnt going to do it.

It's about getting results which have been poor against ordinary opponents, if that excites you then great but don't expect others to agree that such a naive style of play is what is required ...

Maneki Neko imo you underplay the mess the club and playing squad is in
and overplay the quality of that squad

but that's up to you
again, im not trying to convince anyone

leon If Clarke wants a new job he ought to have a shave and smarten himself up a bit.

He looks a right state.

The two full backs plus Danny Williams off the top of my head definitely playing better under McDermott and McShane has come out of a slump he was in at the end of the Clarke reign.

And Simon Cox by default ;-)

Longhorn, McDermott is playing the best players he has available. He has no choice but to persevere. He can't do anything until the summer. Just chill out. Stop expecting the impossible. Things will improve gradually. No one is being naive. We all know that we're sh*te. You're naive to think that someone can just come in and start winning games every week. That we have some kind of Marcus Rashford sitting in our youth academy just waiting to be given the opportunity. Just understand that it needs time and work to build a side.

That's right Chelsea fan. The YES MAN, the Strong relationship builder, McDermott won us the Championship title, took us to three FA Cup Quarter Finals and a Play-off Final. The NO man Clarke just tried to walk away because management is a little bit difficult for him. He said NO to being a manager of a decent Championship club. Too hard for him. Let's see who's gonna employ that useless, arrogant failure now?

The use of the term 'yes man' is a meaningless cliche
So no surprise who is using it !

He came, he saw, he f*cked up. As per the following:

A less than impressive league record last season.
A cup run that will live long in the memory.

A frustrating start to this season playing tippy tappy football - most of the Mad Stad would collectively shout 'just f*cking hit it' on a weekly basis. Remember that guys?
A good run of results around Sept/Oct.
Result at Fulham completely deflates the squad.
Unable to pick up team confidence or form and inexplicably asks to speak with Fulham, following approach.
Team continues to play pish.
Sacked following poor run of results.

We move on.

When appointed I had really hoped for great things as I believed at the time it was a great appointment. But it soon became apparent my thoughts were more to do with the contacts he could potentially bring to Reading; not what he could actually deliver on the pitch in the long term.

Message to any Reading fans who want to watch tonights Champions League Semi-Final between Bayern and Athletico but don't have BT Sport. Remember there is the Islamic Republic of Irans state run broadcasting service who are delivering a live stream.

Here is the live stream...

http://www2.live.irib.ir/

Thanks to Iran, we don't have to be slaves to Sky and BT's extortionate pricing.

Current score is Athletico 1 Bayern 0
