give Quinn a run in central midfield instead of Williams. Just as much energy, but probably a touch more class and a better passer / reader of the game. Williams is good, but not irreplaceable IMHO

Admittedly, this season is better (and he might be peaking)

So a good time to keep him in the team, then?
He's a first team regular, plays an important role in doing Norwood's dirty work, and generally seems to care when the chips are down.
Youd need a really good reason to sell him. And a doubly good reason to sell him to a Championship club.

Although from his point of view a move likely to give him at least a couple of years as a Premiership player would be pretty attractive, even if his time on the pitch might be limited.
I'd see it as a big loss if he did go, I like his attitude and energy and think he's a pretty positive influence on the squad. Can accept that Quinn might be a better option from a footballing point of view though.

But note the "might' above. Too short a purple patch to know if he is going to be a ten-goal-a-season
man or whether these five goals are fluky. His past record before he joined us and last season doesn't
suggest a load of goals.

And he has taken a shedload of shots for those goals.

It could be that had he passed the TEAM would have had more goals

He's a first team regular,

Being a regular doesn't necessarily imply good. If it did we should keep every player who is a regular

plays an important role in doing Norwood's dirty work

There's where we disagree, I guess. I'm not saying Williams is a bad player but I think his mid-field discipline is poor. He isn't very predictable or "safe", he's relatively selfish, he may stop the opposition's moves but he also stops OURS, and when Norwood-Williams play as a central two the opposition midfield has an easy time and get eyeball-toeyeball with our defence far too often.

I think Tish instead of Williams and we'd get more points. Ditto (but less certain) Fernandez.

If we had L-wood there (at his RFC best) we'd be at least half-a-dozen places higher.

I seriously, honestly believe that Williams, for all his energy and ability is a liability
and it's specifically his presence in the side that prevents us becoming solid and hard to beat.

What no-one can argue about is the ease with which sides cut through us. example "ordinary" Huddersfield

and generally seems to care when the chips are down.

I just see "angry young man".

Last season we were complaining because he always blamed others

You'd need a really good reason to sell him. And a doubly good reason to sell him to a Championship club.

REASONS

His wages will be high.

He is easily replaceable by Quinn

He could be replaced by a hard-tackling, reliable DM like Tish

We might make a profit and lower our wage bill

"We know Swansea want to bring in a midfielder, with Reading’s Danny Williams a reported target.

The last of the AZ signings. Makes sense to get rid of him and his wages if we get a good enough offer. Plus Quinn is much, much better.

It's £3m. Just waiting on personal terms. Sounds like it's pretty much done though.

WILLIAMS DEAL UNLIKELY
"More from Swansea as the club are in talks with Reading regarding a potential deal for Danny Williams.
The Swans are keen on the midfielder but we understand a deal is unlikely."

I would slash my wrists and vomit in the sink if he left. I think he's the best midfielder we have.

You think Quinn is "much, much better"?

Perhaps Swansea have just realised that despite his surname he is not Welsh.
Could somebody please remind them that Robson-Kanu and Gunter are both Welsh!!

Heard that Reading are offering Williams in exchange for Gylfi.

Gylfi has agreed to take a 30k pw paycut to join us, but Williams is holding out for a higher wage than they want to pay.

Quinn is much, much better than all of our other players. Apart from Vydra and Norwood <3.
