RUMOUR - Neil Lennon

by strap » 08 Dec 2015 19:20

Please God NO!!!

Such a good manager he's taken Bolton to the bottom of the 2nd tier.

Just what we need! Don't bother mentioning his "exploits" with Celtic. Apart from Celtic, no other team in the SPL would get above halt-way up the LCh. Geoff Boycott's grandmother could manage Celtic to the SPL title year in year out!!

Mate you made my evening - phew.

I would also add that anyone who expresses an interest should not be entertained. I mean, Alex McLeish, Gary Bowyer .... please, even RFC can do better then those 2!

There's a reason McLeish's last job was in Belgium and Bowyer was sacked.

Garcia will pull a sickie once things get tough.

Lennon is a no mark whose true level is 3rd tier with Bolton

McLeish is another dour Scot who has a hugely inflated opinion of himself and plays a shit brand of football

Bowyer is another failure at a club on a downward spiral

Rowett is contracted to a rival club, arguably bigger than RFC

Stubbs is even worse than Lennon in that he's plying his trade in Scottish tier 2 and has about as much managerial experience as The Scottish Charlatan.

Curbishley has been out of the trade for 7 years

McDermott is settled as Arsenal Chief Scout and has the added issue of never doing better seconds time around, which also counts out Sir Steve Coppell.

Nigel Pearson would have been my choice but will be too expensive.

Dennis Bergkamp would be an interesting option, but would he really come to little old Reading?

....... we haven't got much of a choice have we ...

Agreed.

The problem is that the owners gave in to mob rule and now due to their people pleasing they've got very few viable options.

Mob rule ? Hard to see that in the sacking.
The club did exactly what they had to do. Clarke set himself up for it, Howe made it clear that in order to restore credibility Clarke needed to deliver results , Clarke pretty much stopped even trying and made the decision inevitable. There was surprisingly little 'mob rule', more a resigned acceptance that is was just a matter of time.
It's a bit naive to think that there would be a list of highly qualified, consistently successful, instantly available candidates with impeccable RFC connections waiting to take over but a front 3 of Bergkamp, Pearson and McD is not too shabby before you think that there are probably others in the running that we haven't even considered....
