But the FA set a precedent with the Gerrard decision as they came out and explained why it was given.

Much like the FA rescinding Gabriel;s red for kicking out at Costa. They've now put themselves in a situation whereby they can't send anyone off for the same offence. And if the ref does so - it has to be rescinded.......

Not really getting the point are we my rattled friend.

They are consistant to the rules of the game - i.e. the rule has been implemented consistantly in these instances. The difference being that one referee subjectively decided that one incident invovled a careless or reckless action by the defender hence a foul was given, the second the ref decided this wasn't the case so no infringement took place.

Now, if you are arguing against this subjectiveness causing inconsistancy then fair enough - subjective judgement will, by human nature, always lead to inconsistancy because different people see incidents in different ways - as has been shown by the comment around the non-penalty on Saturday.

So we have a choice, accept that as long as the rule is administered correctly (it was) by a human and that Human A will see something differently from Human B, and even the same person may interperet a similar or identical incident differently based on external factors or invent RoboRef to decide everything and remove the subjective element of the rule.

If a player headbutts a fellow player and it happens in another game you expect both to be dealt with in the same manner. A red card. As the Remy and Gerrard incidents were very similar you would expect the same.

I don't know why you find this so difficult to understand....

But we aren't discussing headbutts are we? You are trying to compare apples with pears now.

We are comparing two like for like incidents which should result in the same outcome.

Consistency.

A keeper couldn't pick up a back pass 9 years ago. A keeper can't pick up a back pass today.

Yes but Kes, you cant expect the ref on Saturday in a split second to think "hang on, in August 2006 the ref gave Liverpool a penalty for a similar incident i need to give this"....

Anyway, the incident you talk about, this is what the ref that day said

“I saw the Sheffield United player to come in and make side contact with Steven Gerrard.
Moving at that pace it’s always going to put him off balance and he subsequently lost the opportunity to score.
There was no advantage so I gave the penalty. I certainly thought there was contact.”

Yep. So like I said - it's shame there isn't consistency with refereeing decisions.

We know the refs decision is final. It doesn't make it right though.

Ifs, buts and maybe's.

Don't get away from the fact that Chelsea are oxf*rd shit, having a god awful season, are self imploding and even football fans like me who previously would rather see Chelsea win over Manchester United are now enjoying their demise.

Is there an echo?

Chelsea's poor form shouldn't detract from the fact officials in this day and age of more professionalism are useless.

Even when we won the league last season 8) there were still some glaringly obvious mistakes by the officials.

I'm sure you have your reasons for going to watch Olly Murs and getting excited by it. It doesn't make it right though.

Eva Carneiro got married yesterday and no Chelsea players in attendance.

I did think that Jose may have banned them. However, if Jose is taking legal action, maybe she's prohibited, or advised to not talk to the club or any players in case they are required?

Don't make it wrong either.

Opinions, interpretations, win some, lose some. Refereeing ability has not changed over the years.

Chelsea are in a dire mess. Only more cash will save their season, at best for a Europa league spot. Probably would of suited them better finishing 3rd in their group and attempting to win that for champions league qualification next year!!

I doubt the new husband would have wanted a congregation of ex-lovers in attendance.

So your logic is - officials making mistakes aren't making mistakes.

Guess that ghost goal Reading scored at Watford wasn't a mistake. The ref got that spot on.

Logic is that the drivel you are spouting now is the same drivel spouted last year, five years ago and ten years ago.

By your logic the shot Blackman had last week which went wide of the post should of been given as a goal!!! yeah i know it's complete bollocks.

Again, none of this changes the fact that Chelsea are in turmoil!
