I was at the previously mentioned Chester City away game in March 1991. Att 631, which I think is the 7th lowest gate in the history of the football league. there hasn't been a lower league gate recorded since this game.

Lowest attendance for a Reading home game in the league I have been part of was the 1,900 odd home to Bradford just a few weeks after the above mentioned game,

Went to Maidenhead away to Dover on a Tuesday night last season. A combination of bad weather, tube strike, being midweek and general shiteness of the visiting team saw an away support of 4.

Not sure if it's the lowest attendance I've been a part of but I remember going to Hereford on a Tuesday night in the LDV.

Z175 Sunderland away - 19 April 2005. 12pm kick off and on sky tv. I seem to remember roughly 200 away fans but I'd like to know the exact figure if anyone can find it. Little mackem lad in the chippy asked me "Oh manye youes bringin?" and looked astonished when I said at least 100!

Hahnemann made save after save in front of us all (!) in the first half to keep it to only 1-0 as the Champions elect played us of the park. But this was the Coppell era and of course we nicked an equaliser towards the end and then Kitson got the winner form the penalty spot. Cue absolute mayhem around our cavernous empty stand!

I was there for that, had broken my arm a week or so earlier so spent a lot of the game in pain. I think Sidwell got the equaliser and the result ended their run of eight consecutive wins? I went to Bradford with the uncle the day later to watch them play Hull City.

I was also part of a travelling support for 152 for Swansea in 2005. Still at the Vetch, and Lita got an extra time winner in a game we were dire in.

Yep, was there fore both. Pedant mode on - Kitson scored twice at Sunderland, Sidwell won the penalty for the second. And Forster scored the winnner at Swansea. It's ok though mate, he's easily confused with Lita

I'm happy to stand corrected - we probably hadn't even signed Lita at that point!

From Despair To Where? Home

A 1-1 draw with Orient in the Associate Members Cup at Elm Park back in the late 80s. Couldn't remember the attendance but a quick check in Heaven & Earth tells me it was 1174.

Away.

A 1-0 midweek win at Shrewsbury in 1987. There was maybe 25 Reading fans in the bumper 2,300 crowd.

Was also at the Shrewsbury game - I think Francis Joseph scored - hardly played after that game.

Was at the lowest league gate at Elm Park vs Preston 1982 I think, around 1700 gate.

I was at a Friday night LDV cup game or whatever it was called in the early 90's at Elm Park v Southend. It poured down, we lost 4-0 or 4-1 and the attendance was 1472.

"We're gonna win the van, we#re gonna win the van". I seem to recall they actually had a Leyland Van at the ground to reinforce the sponsorship. Although I may have been drunk or just delirious.

I think there were about 12 of us.

That's the one. He scored after about 10 minutes IIRC. It was a Tuesday night in early September and was my first away game. i only got to go because in those days Reading School had Saturday lessons so the summer holiday was a week longer than every other school. The Supporters club coach had about ten people on it.

631 when we played away to Chester when they played their home games in Macclesfield. It was dreadful.

Offically quoted as 524! Sunderland keeper was subbed at h/t due to boredom apparently.

I to was at the lowest ever reading gate for a 1st team against Preston 1712 . So for those who think things are bad now. Trust me they will never be as grim as that period. The club was always on the brink of going bust and lurched from one crisis to another.

...expect that's more likely to be the 'cba factor' within the officials of the clubs involved in the fixtures @ Horley. There's only so much chasing the League secretaries can do to get the crowd figures sent/phoned in. Looking back through the NLM attendance tables for the CCL Premier (where Horley and Windsor of course ply their trade) - will show a small number of fixtures at various clubs throughout the season with a recorded attendance of 0. (these incl amongst others Chertsey, Cove, Hanworth, Bedfont Sp, Spelthorne etc)

...besides I think we're on the wrong 'fred 'ere TB :? but back in the mid-80s I was one of a 'crowd' of 5 to watch the mighty Maidenhead TOWN draw 1-1 with Almondsbury Greenway @ WAMSDSAD/Braywick. Was a game played in the Federated Homes League (now Hellenic) so would have been part of the current Pyramid hence should have been officially recorded.

Crowd profile was - me + 2 mates ; 1 manic track-suited-home-supporting dad (regular football chants through out! ) + 1 fairly uninterested 5-6 yr old son.

Magic Moment: - Town awarded penalty very late on to equalise - this fellah went and stood behind the goal for it - when duly converted he ran up and down, jumping & shouting 'Europe Europe ; here we come!'

I was there too. All I remember is Forster's goal, the KitKat I had at half time, and it being very cold.

Sure we've got close to that for a Tonka Sherpa PaintZone Shield or whatever it was called back in about 1999 against Orient. Anyone go to that? Presumably the club only opened the two rows above the dug outs for that

Didn't we also have someone make their one and only appearance for us in that game?

I was another one of the 25, all a bit spartan. Also went to a 3-0 defeat at Chester around the same time (Branfoot era) and there was under 50 for sure.

Slightly off the beaten track, but I was student in the midlands in the late 80's and attended (well bunked in with a Leeds fan and a Donny Rovers fan) Wolves' lowest ever league gate, 2,205 against Bury in March 1986.
