Jakub Slowik 23 year old goalkeeper who is a free agent on trial with the club http://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/footb ... ls-8484626 a massive :| from me. Surely we need to be strengthening in other area before goalkeeper, i thought we had a long list of promising goalies coming through too.

With Feds and Andersen out of contract at the end of the season and neither guaranteed to sign, Feds because of the money, Andersen because of the lack of 1st team football, it's well worth looking at someone with a bit of experience.

Looks a very good shot stopper from that video clip but unfortunately the bread and butter skills like taking crosses, commanding his area and distributing the ball don't tend to make highlight reels. Still, he's an international for a half decent country and would be comparatively cheap so no harm done with taking a look IMO.

Whilst it would be nice to keep him, I can't see Mikkel wanting to stay on the bench any more. He's 26 now and should be playing, whether for a lower league side, another championship team or going somewhere else in Europe. Hopefully its him that would go rather than Feds.
The only issue I have is will this new guy want to stay on the bench. Can't see Feds being shifted from the keepers spot unless of course its him thats going.

Feds is supposedly on £20,000+ a week. FFP may dictate he goes. I wouldn't be surprised if they both go which would leave us in the shit if we don;t have a contingency. I'm sure the club have been negotiating with the players and already know what the keeper situation will be in the summer so looking at this Polish keeper may be pre-emptive. Have a look at him, and if he's good enough, bring him into the club now and he's got 6 months to get to know the club and the squad.

The rules are relaxed once this financial year ends so FFP becomes less of a problem. It them comes down to whether we think he is worth the wages and whether the Thais have the money.

I think Federici will be looking at the Premiership and as a free agent I can see a number of clubs being interested in him. He's got nothing more to prove here. I also think that if we can replace him with someone on half his money, we will.

Selling fed now and getting in this guy could be good business. And given ffp fed probably needs to take a pay cut to stay... not sure i see him doing that. I think he'd take his chances elsewhere.

I doubt we'll sell Feds in Jan, but could deffo see him going in the summer. Good keepers are a dime a dozen, so as good as he's been this season, I wouldn't be too devo if we lost him.

I can't see any big earners renewing their contracts. Losing Feds isn't the end of the world either. Could be a lot of change this summer. It'll be very interesting who goes and who comes in. It wont be exciting, but it will freshen things up a lot, and we do need that.

Certainly an interesting one but not sure what to make of it really. Seems to confirm that at least one of the keepers will be going in the summer, as I suspected. Can't see him coming here if he wasn't going to be No 1 but if Fed left I hoped Andersen would get his chance. Don't see him sticking around if he's not going to be No 1 next season, which would suggest they may both be off.

Feds did well after a season on the bench, he won't, imho, get a better offer from the Prem in the summer, and we will be offering a lot less to any player we want to give a new contract too.
Welcome back to the real world for footballers at this level.

Federici has arguably earned far more points we really shouldn't have had this season. Plenty of good keepers around, but I'd say that he has been consistently exceptional over his last three champ seasons. If anyone should have a big contract extension, I think he should.

Oh I'm sure we'd all happily keep him. But not for top dollar, which he's almost certainly currently on. He'd need to come back to a reasonable wage I imagine he's probably on closer to £18k - £20k a week at the moment and it wouldn't seem sensible to agree to more than about £14k a week. Baring in mind Sidwell was on about £10k a week back in 2004.

Good shot stopper but needs to learn how to keep hold of the ball.

Can't judge a keeper based on 2 minutes of video, but it wasn't a great 2 minutes. I saw a keeper who's constantly diving backwards, or making saves look like more of a stretch because his feet were going the wrong way.

Fully expecting Feds to move on in the summer, so this is a wise move, especially if he has something about him and we can get him free/cheap. Andersen wont amount to anything here. He needs to move on.
