Cureton's Volley
Looking forward to Burnham at Mill Lane on Saturday though (weather permitting)

...sadly this one's OFF today - this groundshare with the 'Sumas' could prove to be a double-jeopardy - though it is quite a small division. so not too problematic for the rest of this season (hopefully :? ) - by my reckoning they will have to fit in 15 league matches played there, before the end of the season - not sure about Ressies - presumably Wok & Emm's 2nds etc will still be at Lowther?

So far matches at Shrivenham and North Leigh and Daventry declared off from the Preview list above too. Looks to have cleared up outside here in RG1 though.

UPDATE ... and games now OFF at US Portsmarf (vs Tadley) & North Greenford v Leighton

... about to check prospects in the CCL

... games off so far at Guildford, Bedfont Sports, Westfield and in Div 1 - Farleigh and Chess 'n Hook

Sounded like a cracking game at Chorley. 2-0 up, but FCUM made it 2-3 before a late equalizer made it 3-3.

Crowd of 2,254 :shock: with nearly 1,000 from FCUM.

... just a quick run-down of this midweeks' games - weather permitting - its pretty soggy out here but as far as I know both of tonights' games are going ahead - (I've decided to stay in the dry tonight though 8) )

Monday 12th Jan
FA Trophy Round 2 Replay
Farnborough v Maidenhead
SOUTH One Central
Beaconsfield SYCOB v Leighton

Tuesday 13th Jan
FA Trophy Round 2 Replay
Woking v Oxford City

SOUTH Premier
Hungerford v St Neots
SOUTH One S&W
Didcot v Shortwood

CCL Prem
Spelthorne Sports v Hartley Wintney

HELLENIC Prem
Highworth v Flackwell
Kidlington v Abingdon Utd

Supplementary Cup Round 2
Henley v Stokenchurch - got to be a near cert to be rained off :?

Berks Bucks Trophy Q-F
Windsor v Highmoor/IBIS - could be a great battle of will,wit and style: - depends how 'hard' H/I want to stay in the competition - they have bigger fish to fry trying to stay ahead of the chasing pack in the Prem.
- and Windsor's priorities are more than likely higher, regarding their own title challenge, which must have picked up slightly as those above them have started to stumble a bit of late?

Wednesday 14th Jan
CCL Prem
Guildford v Knaphill

...and a rare Friday match since neither are involved in the Vase
Friday 16th Jan
Reading Senior Cup Round 2
Binfield v Bracknell - probably 'fringe' squads though?

Having won it last year I think Windsor will be going all-out to lift it again.

Yes the real goal is promotion but we have a large enough squad to cope with a tilt at the league and a cup or 2.

hmmmm perilous thing 'large squads' and Cup Competitions, bearing in mind recent chequered-history of the B&B Trophy and it's 'registration' issues..... :?

Will pick my venue on Tue based on what survives, as the weather forecast is bordering on the grim - I'd expect at worst Kingfield will be (Woking v Oxford City) OK but Stag M'dow is hovering at the upper end of my list. 8)

Missed off the other B&B Trophy Q-F scheduled for tomorrow night (Tue 13th):

Newport Pagnell Town v Binfield

...two other Q-Fs are scheduled for Tuesday week (20th Jan):
Abingdon Utd v Milton Utd
Flackwell Heath v Thatcham Town

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
STOP PRESS :mrgreen: Result just in:
FA Trophy 2nd Round replay Farnborough 1-0 Maidenhead Utd
...and here's the 3rd Round Draw - made earlier today:
1 Stockport County or Wrexham v Grimsby Town or Gateshead
2 Braintree Town v Ebbsfleet United
3 Chorley or FC United Of Manchester v AFC Fylde or AFC Telford United
4 Dartford v FC Halifax Town
5 Farnborough v North Ferriby United
6 Hemel Hempstead Town v Torquay United
7 Bath City v Altrincham
8 Oxford City or Woking v Dover Athletic
...ties to be played w/e Sat 24th Jan
...and for 'completeness' other result at a very wet Holloways Park tonight:
Southern One Central: Beaconsfield SYCOB 2-2 Leighton
Ha! Re large squads.... It's a large squad and settled so no weekly ins and outs should hopefully mean all registrations are clean and up to date!
If it's on and you do go to Stag Meadow it'd be good to meet up. Let me know if it's likely and I'll PM you my mobile (unless you'll be wearing something distinctive...!)
Hoping to go to Kidlington vs Abingdon United in the Hellenic Prem tonight.
Perhaps I'll get snowed in the ground and get cabin fever and end up freezing to death after attempting to massacre my loved ones with an axe.
.... mebbe next week - will see what else is on - have visited Stag M'dow once this season already and I like to spread myself around - so to speak! :?
...not much else surviving tonight at all - indeed my list above has been wiped out - barring Woking, Westfield just over the road from Kingfield (might pretend to park in the Sports Centre for that one and go to t'other) 8) , Diddy (was there only 10 days ago) and at the moment Kidlington -but a minor crimp on any efforts to stalk Floyders at that one - would be cross-town traffic and the P@xford Ring Road.
...then again Bracknell will doubtless be kfcucked this evening - probably scuppering my attempt to get to Woking too...
...decided to stay in as choices limited to quick revisits - and more than likely out of reach by the time I'd finished Dad's Taxi runs :|
Tonights' results:
FA Trophy 2nd Round Replay
Woking 2-1 Oxford City - 'Cards' host Dover in the next round - oddly enough the ground opposite (Westfield) had a late postponement
SOUTH1S&W
Didcot Town 2-2 Shortwood Utd
HELLENIC Prem
Kidlington 3-2 Abingdon Utd - Kiddy turned the game around from 0-2 down - Highmoor/IBIS stay top by one point.
Fozzie's first match in charge of Staines Town tonight saw them beat Gosport Borough 2-1 in the Conference South. Only Staines' second league win since August, their normally porous defence held out against a late Boro onslaught. The great escape is on!
3 goals in the last 10 minutes too. When the winning goal went in in injury time, one of the Kiddy players retrieved the ball from the net and ran over to the 'Abingdon United Ultras' (yes, I'm not joking) and plonked the ball in front of them and bowed :lol: . I think he was ex-Abingdon. Fair play to the Ultras for their enthusiasm, but there is something a little undignified about singing and chanting at a match which has only attracted about 50 people :lol:
FA Trophy 2nd Round replay Farnborough 1-0 Maidenhead Utd
5 Farnborough v North Ferriby United
Couldn't make the replay Monday night but did attend the 2-2 draw on Saturday afternoon at York Rd - an absolutely sickening result.
Without the assistance of Statzone I'd guestimate the ball spent more than half the game in Farnborough's final 1/3 and we must have had upwards of 20 shots on target/blocked. They had 2 :|
A not dissimilar story Monday night by all accounts with most of their lads dispensing with any pretence of playing football and proceeding straight to kicking the black and whites in the air for the whole game.
With the possible exception of Sutton Utd and their army of turd coloured, replica shirt and cowboy hat wearing, middle aged fatties masquerading as a 'firm' I don't think there is a more dislikeable club in this division.
Rumour on t'interweb is a certain Mr Lonsdale, previously of Hereford, is looking to buy them. Which would be just lovely :mrgreen:
Tomorrow's 'local' NL games - expect quite a few might bite the frost -
I've already read of a game off in Wessex One - oddly enough its Hythe & Dibden v Amesbury - presumably weather-related? Odd in that this is the 3rd or 4th game postponed at H&D's new Clayfields ground. The opening was postponed by a month or so, due to Health & Safety regs so not the most auspicious of moves to new pastures since - I think they've only managed to play one game there so far and they lost that?
Will update with known postponements Sat, mid-morning if possible.
The FA Vase – 4th Rd Proper
(Southern Ties - teams from 'featured' leagues in BOLD)
8 Bodmin Town v Phoenix Sports
9 Stanway Rovers v Saffron Walden Town
10 Ascot United v Colliers Wood United - Two of our 'local' leagues in opposition here and CWU are slightly odd opponents - in a way their form is a bit like Ascot's: hot/cold - have lost to some really duff teams in the league; as well as picking up a few eye-opening wins (e.g. v Windsor/Spelthorne)
- league record of 10-2-12 F:A 45-43 - stuck-fast in mid-table in the CCL Prem. Their Vase run has been full of goals though - with a 5-4, a 4-3 and a 9-2 in the last round.
Bear in mind there's Racing at Ascot tomorrow so leave a bit of extra time to get there?
11 Bradford Town v Melksham Town - think these two clubs are only approx. 5 miles apart so could be quite a turn-out - though the weather is worse to the west I believe?
12 Ashford United PP Norwich United - waterlogged - new date (probably) Tue 20th
13 Greenwich Borough v AFC St Austell - GB groundshare with Dartford FC
14 Flackwell Heath v Hullbridge - possibly the best chance of 'local' progression - Hullbridge are in a fairly unspectacular 9th place in the Essex Senior League. Hope I've not jinxed the 'Heathens' there! :?
15 Erith & Belvedere v Yaxley (Sun 18th, 3pm) - E&B also groundshare - they play at Welling FC - familiar territory to some of us wrinklier RFC fans :P
16 Highworth Town v Tunbridge Wells - Tunbridge Wells are currently 4th in the SCEL (previously known as the Kent League) wins in the Vase incuded a 5-1 thumping of CCL Prem Westfield at Woking Park
St Ives Town v Northwood
Bashley v North Leigh
Didcot Town v Taunton Town
Fleet Town v Wantage Town - likely destination for me and the youngest if his football at Kings Meadow goes ahead tomorrow lunchtime; if his match is off, then we can consider further afield - weather permitting. :|
CCLP
Ashford Town (Middx) v Westfield
Bedfont Sports
v Hanworth Villa
Cove v Badshot Lea
Epsom & Ewell v Farnham Town
Horley Town v Windsor - loath to tempt fate but could be a goal glut here - Horley were whipped 1-8 {EIGHT} by Camberley on Tuesday evening - though from some reports it appears Camberley's big, direct, powerhouse-style steamrollered their opponents - not sure Windsor can play that way?
Mole Valley SCR v Chertsey Town
Molesey v Frimley Green
Raynes Park Vale v Hartley Wintney
Spelthorne Sports v Knaphill
CCL1
14:00 AFC Croydon Athletic v Sandhurst Town
Results from this PM:
The FA Vase – 4th Rd Proper
8 Bodmin Town 0-2 Phoenix Sports
9 Stanway Rovers 1-0 Saffron Walden Town
10 Ascot United 4-2 Colliers Wood United aet 2-2 at FT - some fairly bitter grumblings on CCL F'Focus about dodgy pens and rough house stuff from the Yellamen.
11 Bradford Town 3-1 Melksham Town – crowd estimated at above 800 – official attendance 621
13 Greenwich Borough 2-3 AFC St Austell
14 Flackwell Heath 3-0 Hullbridge att 161
16 Highworth Town 1-1 Tunbridge Wells
…so all three Hellenic clubs in the hat for the 5th round (last 16) draw taking place on Monday - which I think becomes 'open' at this stage i.e. not regionalised - will have to check. All will prefer to avoid Dunston or N.Shields, whom I read somewhere were big bookies favourites – don’t know much about the pedigree of the other Midland/Northern sides still in - were a couple of postponements too. Highworth will have to perform very well to survive the replay at T.Wells – not sure they travel too well (Stag Meadow excepting! :mrgreen: ) particularly of a midweek.
UPDATE - just noticed the replay date is actually set for NEXT Saturday (24th Jan) - might well consider trawling round the M25 for that.
CONFP
Lincoln City 3-0 Aldershot Town
Woking 0-0 Bristol Rovers att 3853
CONFN
AFC Fylde 2-1 Oxford City
Solihull Moors 1-0 Brackley Town
C ONFS
Basingstoke Town 1-1 Gosport Borough
Bath City 2-1 Staines Town
Hemel Hempstead Town 4-1 Farnborough
Maidenhead United 1-3 Bishops Stortford :(
St Albans City 2-0 Concord Rangers
Sutton United 2-1 Ebbsfleet United
Wealdstone 4-2 Chelmsford City
Whitehawk 2-1 Bromley
SOUTHP
Bideford 1-3 Chesham United
Chippenham Town 2-1 Cirencester Town
Corby Town 1-1 Hungerford Town
Slough Town 3-0 Weymouth – :) ‘Rebels’ thump league leaders – three up before HT
SOUTH1C
Aylesbury United 1-4 Bedworth United
Barton Rovers 2-0 North Greenford United
Chalfont St Peter 0-1 AFC Hayes - shock win for bottom club ‘The Brook’ – 86’ winner
Godalming Town 1-1 Beaconsfield SYCOB
Hanwell Town P-P Leighton Town - called off by match Ref at 14:50 :evil:
Marlow 1-1 Daventry Town
Potters Bar Town 0-2 Aylesbury
St Ives Town 4-2 Northwood
Uxbridge 1-2 Royston Town
SOUTH1S&W
Bashley 1-6 North Leigh - that’s an aggregate of 17-1 to Nor Lye vs Bash this season
Didcot Town 0-3 Taunton Town - Diddy somewhat ‘off the rails’ of late? :roll:
Fleet Town 1-2 Wantage Town - marvellous ‘come from behind’ win for the ‘Freds’ – admittedly doesn’t do Fleet much good – only a point above Wantage but a little bit of daylight appearing back to the bottom two now.
CCLP
Ashford Town (Middx) 1-2 Westfieldanother slip up for the 'Ashtrees' have dropped back to 4th now.
Cove 1-3 Badshot Lea ditto a shock 2nd successive defeat for the previously imperious leaders Cove – their big lead has evaporated away to 1 point – with 2nd place Camberley now 2 games in hand.
Epsom & Ewell 2-4 Farnham Town - bizarre sequence of results from Farnham – two very unexpected big away wins sandwich a 0-7 home shellacking by Baggy Lea
Horley Town 1-2 Windsorkeeps them in touch in 3rd – Camberley not in action this w/e also benefit greatly from Cove and Ashford’s upsets this PM.
Mole Valley SCR 0-4 Chertsey Town
Molesey ‘Abandoned’ Frimley Green - reportedly never started as FG only had 7 players at the start!
Raynes Park Vale 1-1 Hartley Wintney
Spelthorne Sports 2-0 Knaphill
CCL1
AFC Croydon Athletic 5-0 Sandhurst Town
Ash United 1-2 Cobham
Banstead Athletic 1-1 Staines Lammas
Bedfont & Feltham 1-0 Dorking
Farleigh Rovers 3-0 Alton Town
Sheerwater 0-8 {EIGHT} Chessington & Hook United bit of an odd one - Chess 'n Hook do have an unhealthy number of games in hand hence why they are near the foot of the table just above the 'Fizzers'; at current rate of matches getting played, their season could run into June - they have TWENTY league games left! :o Cannot help that they groundshare with lodgers Epsom Athletic so doubt if the pitch at Chalky Lane gets any recovery time?
Sheerwater were going Ok until mid-October - but the rumblings about end of season demotion to County level, seem to have torn out the heart of a great little club and current form has nose-dived - 9 defeats in the last 10.
Worcester Park 2-0 Eversley & California
HELLP
Highmoor Ibis 2-1 Ardley United - leaders power on - doubtless the Chat Room will be full of vitriol and bile about H/I's behaviour - and I haven't seen a report yet. Since Witney Town/United's demise Ardley now seem to be the 'darlings' of said Forum and this defeat will not be well received. :twisted:
Holyport 1-5 Abingdon United
Thatcham Town 2-0 Thame Unitedgreat result for Kingfishers against a form side who were chasing hard at the top.
HELL1E
Wokingham & Emmbrook 1-1 Penn & Tylers Green
Hellenic Challenge R3
Letcombe 1-4 North Leigh United
Hellenic Supplementary Cup Round 2
Milton United 1-3 Shortwood United Res
Cheltenham Saracens 1-3 Brackley Town 'Dev'
Finchampstead 1-2 Headington Amateurs
Reading Senior Cup Round 1 Newbury 2-0 Reading YMCA
Reading Senior Cup Round 2 Frilsham & Yattenden 3-7 {SEVEN} Henley Town
WESSP
Andover Town 3-2 Alresford Town
Whitchurch United 2-2 Fareham Town
…ended up here with youngest – persuaded him not to risk games inside the M25 – luckily enough as his 2nd choice of Hanwell vs Leighton was called off very late – NOR I didn’t fancy trying to park around Ruislip for his original 1st choice of Wealdstone v Chelmsford – though that sounded like quite a game?
‘Turns out’ – we witnessed quite a lively tussle down at Longmeadow – Whitchurch are stuttering having the led the league briefly although Fareham arrived with 7 straight league defeats behind them – some of them quite sizeable too. They are only NOT bottom because Totton & Eling are having an even more abject time in 14/15 – still without a win. Fareham gave their hosts a real scare belying their woeful run of form.
Food was good too – though he regretted not putting on even more layers – it was decidedly nippy late PM.
Winchester City 4-0 Lymington Town
WESS1
Andover New Street 1-1 Downton
Pewsey Vale 1-2 New Milton Town
... my current plan is a mad-cap dash for Youngs Drive for the Baddy Lea vs Horley CCL match - but an earlier KO and my daughter needing a lift (somewhere - not been told yet :roll: ) to Cubs, I may have to opt for Basingstoke or Holyport - with an outside chance of one of the B&B games: - Windsor of course the most intriguing, as its a clash of different leagues. As is usual for me - will dither until I'm in the car at about 19:00! :|
