winchester_royal Mackie did today and for all his work and effort he doesn't do an awful lot with it.

Big fan of the guys work rate and contribution for now but I suspect it will be Mackie rather than Blackman that will lose out when McCleary comes back

P!ssed Off Hector excellent?
You must be taking the piss, surely.
Rubbish throughout. Misjudged the flight of 90% of their aerial balls, hopeless marking of Fuller. Gave too much space for the first goal. Needlessly gave away the freekick for their second, and almost gifted Millwall another after that.

Gunter wasn't much better. Murray also looked poor.

Cox and Norwood our best players. Federici made some top saves, but a big mistake for their second.

Not Hector's best game but far from rubbish. He's still learning and Fuller is a bugger to play against. Especially when your midfield gets overrun and you've got no out or relief from pressure.

Yeah, if McCleary or HRK came back tomorrow I'd definitely keep Blackman in the side. Mackie needs to step it up or he's going to end up 4th choice.

Not sure how many errors big and small a CB would have to make before he breaks into your 'rubbish threshold'. He was firmly in rubbish territory for me. Luckily for him, there is no alternative to replace him with for the next match.

Not buying the Fuller love-in either. His last three teams have been Millwall, Charlton and Blackpool which tells a lot. He's 35 next month and his record over the previous 5 seasons was 18 goals in 134 games.
Played in all 7 league games this season, starting 5, and today was his first goal.
Opposition strikers don't come much worse than Ricardo Fuller. Hector should have done much better.

Think he had 1 (1) in defence last season. Some people have ridiculous expectations.

Maybe it's due to others overhyping his good games, he just won PoTMonth ffs.
You can't have it both ways, he can't be the the 'best thing since sliced bread one week' and an 'inexperienced kid' who can't be expected to have the likes of Ricardo Fuller in his pocket the next.

Personally, I think he is a decent CB playing against one of the league shittest strikers. He didn't do well enough, by a long way.

That's exactly what you expect from a talented but inexperienced kid, inconsistency :|

I don't consider him a kid tbh. 22 is not that young in football.

You're really struggling.
Firstly I didn't vote him PotM. Secondly he has absolutely outstanding against Ipswich and has been good since, including yesterday, though not faultless. I can't think of anyone who's been as good.
He's making mistakes, which anyone with half a brain would expect and factor in for a 22 year old with virtually no experience at this level. But they're fewer and further between than the guy he replaced who had much more experience. He's also an important link in the way we're trying to play with his comfort on the ball and range of passing. Even if he is abit to fond of long balls for my liking.

And if you genuinely think Hector won't come up against a striker who is easier to defend against then, quite frankly and bluntly, you're being a simpleton.

He was oxf*rd against Huddersfield, literally giving a goal away amongst other errors.
I apologise for claiming Hector had a rubbish game, in future I will award him a handicap of 2 points to his marks out of 10.

He was not oxf*rd against Huddersfield. He made a bad mistake that was punished and was otherwise similarly as ok as against millwall. You've got a real haters hardon against him haven't you.

No, I just don't subscribe to the "He's only 22, let's pretend he didn't have a bad game" argument.
His game has massive flaws that I can't be bothered to pretend don't exist.
Overall, he's decent enough for now.

He is an academy product and a good one at that, support him and get behind him, especially when were winning! Also, those saying he kept on misjudging headers have clearly never played a game of football in your life.

If a striker is looking to flick on a header that has nobody behind him and will result in going back to the keeper or straight to hectors feet, why would he jump for the head? It may look macho but it doesn't do the job required.

You're suggesting Hector was deliberately letting Fuller have the ball?
