I can think of at least 2 occasions where Federici's kicks have done exactly the same. And kicking like that is more inexcusable.

To be fair one of them was the towering Rob Earnshaw.

It's an academic argument now my friends. We've got one and not the other. More constructive to rate Andersen etc.

Tbf Feds hasn't looked quite as fat this season as he did last year. But he is still very slow to get down to low shots for a little fella

Well, I dunno, I'm no expert but that looked like an outstanding save to me regardless of whether there are plenty of keepers who would have made it. There are also plenty who wouldn't have done so.

Another one for the Federici's distribution is far from brilliant debate yesterday.

Let us hope that Anderson now seizes his opportunity with both hands - and let us not forget that there other young 'keepers waiting in the wings. Well done, Sal!

Amazed at how some of the normally self-righteous 'thou shalt not criticise' are all over Feds' case for some reason.

Get over it folks, McCarthy has left and you continuing to try to find spurious grounds for slagging off the guy who has taken over from him, won't alter that. Speak to any goalkeeping coaches in or outside of Reading FC and I reckon the overwhelming majority will tell you that Federici is still an excellent keeper and one of the best in the Championship.

As for McCarthy, only time will tell how great a keeper he really is at the highest level.

When it comes to the Sig/McCarthy debate that some are entering into, it's nonsense at this moment in time to try to compare McCarthy quality at that level with that of Sig. Sig has consistently proven his class at that level over more than one season. Even allowing for his time there with us, McCarthy is still very much a newcomer.

Perhaps someone who was at the game can explain what happened. The limited television coverage didn't show anything of that nature, just what looked like a pretty good save early on.

Sorry IR.... Andersen.

What is it with me and the name Anderson and variants? I did a similar thing on cricket (James Anderton)

Thanks for pointing it out.

Jason Roberts has just said he was the best keepers he's ever played with on the fantasy football show (SS1)

As an all round keeper, apart from his command of the central defenders, he is one of the best in the league

Did he play with many keepers on that show then?
