Wasn't Drenthe's (to be taken with a pinch of salt) social media comment that Adkins told him he could have 5 players for Drenthe's wages.

I'm sure if Adkins thought he was worth it he'd not have frozen him out, no matter the cost. But he hasn't been so it must be at least partly cost related.

If Adkins thought he could still be a positive influence on the squad and he wanted to play him he'd be using him until he sold him, not paying him his wages to sit on his arse. That's not cost related, it's wanting him away from his squad full stop.

Royston may be a bit of a pcunt and a bit wayward at times but on his day i'm sure he could be a match winner and valuable member of any team wanting promotion.The thing with Drenthe is he hasn't had a good run in the team so its difficult for any of us to pass judgement(footballing wise).Most of the appearances he has had,have been off the bench,plus he has had his injury problem(s)

Jimmy Kebe wasn't exactly loved at the start if i remember correctly but he eventually got his act together and became a key player in our recent success.Granted Jimmy was never really a problem player talking bollocks on instagram but still...

Adkins knows best i suppose but i don't think its too shocking that somebody on this board would like the club to keep him.I may not be alone

My only problem with Blackman is that so far in his Reading career he hasn't really displayed much footballing ability. My only point of praise for Drenthe is that he's clearly really good, albeit lazy and unfit. Oh, and his ego is hilarious.

Drenthe hasn´t had a good game for 5or 6 years, Mourinho couldn´t wait
to offload him from Real Madrid, he went to Hercules in Alicante, was an absolute
nightmare they couldn´t get rid of the prat fast enough, he was trouble at Everton then
he sent off to some Russian outfit and did nothing there. Then our wonderful
Russian owner believed all the hype and signed him on a ludicrous contract.
Adkins is right, keep him as far away from the first team squad as possible.
Drenthe is death to any team,we can´t afford to pay the bum off, so let him get fatter
and fatter doing nothing and wait for his contract to run down. Probably best to
ban him from being within a mile of the Mad stad. He is a bad influence .

Goals & assists for one. He was one of our better players over the Xmas period too. Did you see his goal today?? Give him a chance. He could be a really important player for us this season.He has potential & Drenthe has blown whatever potential he had on a Shisha pipe & Taco Bell.

It's not great, but it's better than having a hugely overpaid waster on the books. And if he went, you know, maybe we could use the money it frees to make a signing.
