Germany were able to sort out their defence against France, and didn't really need one against Brazil after scoring first/Brazil not being able to restart a match form the centre circle.

Having said that Germany haven't really faced a side with both a top class defence and pace up front. How will they deal with Messi?

First goal is crucial in this game, think Germany have the organisation to win it but I'm nervous- still think they haven't been tested that much yet as the quality sides weren't on their side of the tournament.

Will be interesting to see if Klose starts, and whether Loew has now finally conceded he was wrong about where to play Lahm.

Germany to win handsomely if they score first, to lose 4:1 if they concede first.

I'm worried that Argentina will win this.

Germany looked impressive against a woeful Brazil, but experience often shows that teams who get big wins struggle in their next game. It's as if they can't cope with not being 3-0 up inside half an hour, and their heads drop.

There is some Germany/Argentina history as well though isn't there? My German friend was telling me all about it, but I lost the will to live in about 1986, but I am sure they don't like it each other, so losing to Argentina will be nearly as bad as losing to Holland.

I predict more penalties and Argentina winning, but if Messi turns it on, or we get more of the brilliant German passing goals, it could still be a great final.

All very true. But if Germans had to choose who to defeat in the World Cup final (not the question you're addressing, I know), I am sure a lot would choose Italy. Even Ireland have beaten the Italians in a competitive game ...

You might well be right, but Germany have only come from behind once this world cup and they didn't win.

Their defence struggles when they aren't having to attack, how are they going to look having to score and keep out Messi at the same time?
