Mass exodus of the academy starlets as well now I'm guessing. Fcuking fantastic.

Hardly. They're all signed up to contracts and Dolan will have little input in transfers at Leeds anyway.

Ian Royal This would suck. Seems like short-term madness from Dolan.

He is 46 years old and has been at Reading for ten years. Yes it appears a job full of risk, but he obviously felt unlikely to be Reading manager any time soon.

I'd think there are plenty of other options likely to be out there over the next year. Leeds is toxic at the moment and he could easily find himself making a quick buck and then being unemployable or at least far less in demand.

Is Cellino really as terrible as people make out? Brian was probably harshly sacked, but he had a terrible second half to the season. The fact that Cellino's going for Dolan, over someone like Festa or Carbone, suggests to me that he does actually know what he's doing.

Would suggest to me that he wants someone he can push around. The fact he wants a coach rather than a manager would also point to that as well.

Huge loss to the academy, and the club in general. He would have been a strong contender to take over from Adkins when he finally loses patience. Now it'll probably be Kuhl, if we need to go on the cheap.

Leeds are getting a very promising manager there. Just highlights the mess we're in when Dolan, who was otherwise very committed here, is ready to go.

I would imagine Leeds are still a very big draw, historically they are a massive club, huge fan base and if the finances and whatevers gone on behind the scenes is sorted out, it could be seen as a huge opportunity. It's not like he hasn't been overlooked several times for the managers job here, can't expect him to stay as the academy boss forever if he really has any sort of desire to become a head coach/manager.

Cellino employed 36 managers in 22 years at Cagliari. Why on earth would you want to go and work for someone like that?

Seem to remember he wanted away from the stresses of management when he left Exeter. Its a fantastic opportunity for someone with virtually no experience of managing at this level. Just hope he can cope with that kind of pressure. He will have Cellino and a massively underwhelmed fan base to cope with. Good luck to him, he's been a great servant

He also said he didn't want the management job here when McDermott was sacked. So he's never been overlooked for the manager's job here. Where the several times comes from I've no idea, there's only really been one opportunity for him.

Really? Huge pay rise and opportunity to get on the managerial merry-go-round at a club which is and always will be far bigger than Reading.

Pepe the Horseman I'd sooner lose any of our first team players than Dolan.

Even with the younger players, EPPP would mean a starting fee of £170k for someone like Josh Barrett. Leeds' annual academy budget is about £970k and Cellino has spoken of increased efficiency at Academy level. Worth remembering, too, that most of our better young players have actively turned down Chelsea because they think Reading offers a better chance of first team football and less pressure - they're not the sort to just jump ship to Leeds.

SPARTA Now it'll probably be Kuhl, if we need to go on the cheap.

Agreed, when Aaron decides to step down as captain I'd be really happy to see him take over from Adkins.

I know managing an academy is different to being at a club, but Martin Kuhl left Wycombe under a cloud. Not sure he's got the right temperament for the job.

Whoever takes over (if he gets/accepts the job) though is already coming into an academy which basically has the perfect setup because of Dolans work so they need someone who can continue to build on his success on the smallest possible budget you can run a cat 1 academy under.

MmmMonsterMunch SURELY Dolan will not want to work for this guy? SURELY??!!!!!!!!

As opposed to SJM who has waved him off in a canoe on a river of shit without a paddle? Dolan would probably take up a job in Greggs if the offer came in right now.

Reading academy manager Eamonn Dolan is the latest favourite for the Leeds United job. He was contacted yesterday but did not respond #lufc

Can't work out from the wording if he ignored WYS seeking a comment or Leeds United

Natural successor within the academy, though.

Here's hoping we don't lose Dolan to start, mind.
