I didn't realise Ian that you had been appointed as the official censor.
No" arguments" from me as my tribute is that Jobi has been an o.k. run-of-the-mill player for us but IMHO is far from deserving legendary status.

obviously legendary from a reading standpoint, not world football
but for us, he has to go down as one who achieved more than nearly everyone with the club

Unsure what his legacy will be 10 years from now.

To me he was a good player for the club who had some fantastic moments, but also someone that maybe didn't quite live up to their full potential. In fairness he was usually playing on his weaker side but his goal return of just 14 goals in close to 200 games, was still very disappointing from an attacking player that started week in week out for five years.

By all accounts he was a fantastic influence in the dressing room and a good captain even if he wasn't the screaming and shouting type that fans naturally seem to like.

Personally I think he'll probably be seen at the same level as players such as Scott Taylor and Bobby Convey, good players who had roles in very successful sides but were probably just short of ever being the stars in the same way that wingers like Gilkes, Little and perhaps Kebe were.

Still, a great servant to this club that will always be remembered fondly and will get a fantastic reception when he returns, and inevitably scores against us.

Great player. Will be missed. Just wish the shot had gone in against Liverpool in the FA Cup - would have been up there with the Giggs and Villa goals.

Look forward to him and Tabb scoring against us for Ipswich next year.

A player that will be sadly missed. Had a great attitude and was a good captain for us, gave 100% in absolutely everything and was an unsung hero in many ways. Amazed we havent considered another year on his contract, still has alot to offer I feel not to mention his experience.

We have, we offered him something in the summer that by the sounds of it wasn't close to what McAnuff wanted. I would guess it was just 1 year on significantly reduced wages where as he probably wants at least 2 years without too much of a pay cut (ala Hunt last summer too).

...of which about a page is made up of horse racing tips, and 99% of the other posts talk of the same two highlight moments ("that run against LiverpoolTM", and the goal against Cardiff that took us into a playoff final that we subsequently got embarrassed in, on the telly).

Slim pickings for an Attacking Midfielder/Winger in over 200 appearances.

Edit: FWIW i'd like to have seen him given another year - and by all accounts we offered him something earlier this season - but he clearly thinks he can do better financially elsewhere.

I remember an interview by Coppell where he was talking about Kebe, and he quipped "if he was the complete article, he wouldn't be playing for us"

To a large extent, I feel that kind of sentiment sums up Jobi's career. Capable of flashes of magic, but all too often, the final ball or the composure in front of goal was lacking. He's a good solid pro, who is rightly making a living playing football, but had he been able to produce that magic, like he did at Anfield, on a consistent basis, then surely he would have been playing against us that day.
Good luck to the bloke. I've got a feeling he will be playing for Brentford next season, as will Ledge.

I think it's sad how fixed term contracts lead to decisions like this, we have to let go players we as fans would rather stay in order to pay for players under contract we'd rather let go.

It also implies that we've all but given up hope of getting Drenthe, Pog, Guthrie, Pearce and Williams off the wage bill.
