Mr.Swainey Kes probably doesn't know that Gus Poyet turned out for Chelsea for many years. We have to remember that Kes only started supporting Chelsea in 2006.

Even with photographic evidence you're still using weak b8. Embarrassed for you

You're still responding to it

Courtois

Why can't Chelsea enforce the £5m clause. If Atletico can't pay it (bullshit) then they shouldn't be allowed to pick him! having your own player playing against you is ludicrous.

It's good to see a club getting all their teams sharing the same values across all levels.

Don't loan him out to another team you're in the same competition with then.

^This.

If you don't want your very good goalkeeper playing against you, don't sign him with no intention of playing him.

Also - look into the rules properly before loaning someone out under them

Thing is - players can't play against their parent club in domestic league games as it's a conflict of interest. So either it's the same in European competition or that rule is totally scrapped.

Why? Rules made by two seperate bodies. And in some cases, players can and have played against their parent clubs...

Because it was formally agreed and signed as acceptable by both parties.

the fact that neither teams expected to meet in this competition is neither here nor there, that is what these specific clauses are there for...

Doesn't matter. UEFA say the clauses are bollocks. UEFA are in charge.

Can anybody explain why UEFA can override a contract agreed between two businesses?

Because the two 'businesses' (*vomit face*) have entered a competition run by UEFA, that has its own rules; I assume entry to the Champions League implies acceptance of these rules.

When the two businesses have entered into a UEFA run competition, UEFA are in charge.

Can you imagine the outcry should Courtois let in an 'easy' goal though? Potentially could be damaging for his image and make UEFA look (even more) silly.

It's one of those things though, should it happen to Reading, you wouldn't want the loan player playing against you. As it's Chelsea you're happy with the ruling.

I am.

See how rattLOLed he is?

Genuinely though - refreshing to see a governing body stand up to a big club and tell them to fcuk off. It's UEFA's competition, not Chelsea's to influence.

Why are you so for it then and commenting so much on it, if it doesn't bother you?

It's a forum, and this thread is for commenting on Chelsea and events rel8ing to them. As I have a part-time job working in football, and will be comment8ing on the second leg of this game, this ruling is of interest to me.

And I haven't said I'm for it. I've simply explained why the rule is there.

Chins up m8, try again.
