No Fixed Abode 8 CL semifinals for Jose now and 7 in the last 11 years for Chelsea. Phenomenal record.

Is this your first semi-final with Chelsea?

I know the last one was with Man Utd when you supported them.

"Both the Uefa Champions League and the Uefa disciplinary regulations contain clear provisions which strictly forbid any club to exert, or attempt to exert, any influence whatsoever over the players that another club may (or may not) field in a match.

"It follows that any provision in a private contract between clubs which might function in such a way as to influence who a club fields in a match is null, void and unenforceable so far as Uefa is concerned.

"Furthermore, any attempt to enforce such a provision would be a clear violation of both the Uefa Champions League and the Uefa disciplinary regulations and would therefore be sanctioned accordingly."

That's that then.

So if UEFA can say that then why can't the Premier League?

Because the top clubs run the PL....

Personally I think that the loan system as it stands currently should be scrapped. It should be set so that only players who are UNDER 21 on 1st July each year can be loaned during a season except in the case of emergency loans, which SHALL only apply to goalkeepers and an emergency would be classed as having all professional keepers unavailable. Lastly if a player is on loan it would NOT be possible to dictate he couldn't play against his parent club.

Allowing players to play against their parent clubs opens up a whole new set of problems, either real or imagined:

Lukaku plays against Chelsea and misses an absolute sitter which would have turned the game...

Or Courtois let's a fat Frank pen roll through his legs...

chelsea are very fortunate to have swansea down to 10 men...no way the 2nd was a yellow. a bit shit considering how long it took for the ref to give the 2nd yellow after chelsea players and mourinho berated the ref.

Have I missed something here?

Dowd clearly wasn't giving a 2nd yellow to Flores, then did, and in appearing to explain his decision, pointed to his ear.

There didn't appear to have been any direct consultation with his assistant so who had informed him that the challenge warranted a yellow / red? When asked by John Terry what he was doing, he looked at the ground saying he was "thinking about it". His eyes (to my mind) gave away that he was listening to his earpiece.

I thought he could only speak to his assistants on the field of play.

(Correct decision in the end imo, but that's not the point.)

Taking longer is worth it if you get to the right conclusion (which he did)

John Terry in his face probably helped though

And we still should have scored at least five.

Didn't realise the last 30 mins in a game don't count. :|

Cmon m8, even you can come up with something better than that.

Didn't say you didn't deserve to win, you had that wrapped up as soon as Jose and Terry eventually got Dowd to send Flores off, but claiming your lot could have scored five is fanciful at best. I thought Eto'o was particularly wasteful. You can't blame Ba, he's just a poor mans Shola Ameobi

Fanciful? Assume you didn't watch the game?

Salah, first half missed a sitter. Lost count of easy missed chances in the 2nd half.

Wasn't a great performance from Chelsea but they won and if they can do that in the rest of their games they will win the league. Anyone but Rodgers.

Will be brilliant for Rodgers to conquer. Stick two fingers up at those who ditched him at anytime in his career particularly at Reading not that he cares about that.

Love Liverpool to win this league.

Whilst Rodgers has never ditched anyone, apart of course from ditching his wife when he had his affair.
