RFC Referee related responses required

by Big Foot » 03 Feb 2014 13:00

Doncaster v Boro on Saturday, the ref was taken ill at half time and 4th official got appointed referee for the 2nd half. My question to the people of HNA? is thus,

When was the last time this happened in one of our games?

ISTR this happened at Ninian Park in a brilliant 3-2 win in April 2004. Has it happened since?

I'm sure at a home game at the Mad Stad a ref got injured and the 4th official took over - but couldn't tell you who we were playing.

In our home game against Brighton in April 2003, the referee was replaced at half-time due to injury. The replacement was the fourth official, based in Brighton and whose dad was a Brighton season ticket holder. We lost, of course. No-one other than me seemed concerned about this at the time.

Didn't something similar happen away at Ipswich once or twice?

Didn't the ref and 4th official both get injured against Cardiff? About 2003/2004?

Yeah, the memory I have is that we spent ages waiting to take a corner in the second half when it was 1-1, because they were changing the ref. We then scored from the corner (Ingimarsson's first goal for the club I think), and Cardiff were really upset about this. Dean Morgan got the winner in the 90th minute, and the game seemed to end about 10.15 because of all the delays.

Someone have a look at Biscuits & Royals. There was a game in the 70s at EP where David Downs ran the line for a few minutes.

The life of everyone in this stadium depends upon just one thing: finding someone out there who can not only ref this game, but who didn't have fish for dinner.

It happened in the away game at Blackpool in 2011/12. Ref got injured in the first half and the lino replaced him.
