marekisgod Billy Sharp is on his way up A34 ...........................

Billy Sharp can keep on going to Birmingham or further-well done Alf and now perhaps Adkins will find a place in the side for our top scorer and best striker in terms of conversion of chances.

Well unless I'm mistaken Adkins has given ALF a place for 2 games running. It's not Adkins you need to be thinking about, it's now up to ALF to prove on a regular basis that he's a 90 minute player, not just a supersub. He's going the right way about it so far !

3 games running

Uke So has anyone come knocking for Alfie?

No, because he is shite. League 1/2 quality is all he is.......not good enough for the championship.

See, I told you.....he's just not good enough....

first goal today was a quality strike. Second goal you'd definitely expect him to score. Any my dog could have scored the 3rd! (yes, I know he had to be in the right place, etc, etc)

Some quality lay-offs to McCleary today. Its nice that today we had two strikers who were taking the ball with back to goal, laying it first time to the wings, then spinning and running towards the goal (nicely backed-up by the midfield)

Lovely

Oh yeah that famous 7-1 thumping of WATFORD at Madejski Stadium yesterday

I was in hospitality and ALF was brought up for a quick Q&A and when asked if he was staying he said - well yeah, I hope so... :|

He can't go anywhere unless we choose to let him, and we have two strikers, so it really isn't going to happen. Hopefully we'll stick with 4-4-2 this season and Alf will see plenty of football and then earn that new contract he says he was promised a year ago. Sharp or another needs to come in this window, otherwise an injury to Alf or Pog and we are up shit creek.

Pog is more likely to get suspended than injured. Solidly built product from the Iron Curtain days!

I'm sure he will whilst ALF continues to work really hard in an all-round game and the team keep creating chances.

So. Le Fondre has started 11 league games this season. He's currently scoring in 45% of the games he starts, is our top scorer, has a strike success rate of 34% and a goals to start ratio of 1:1.6.

Would anyone like to tell me again that he's useless starting and should only be on the bench?

Like they say, statistics and lies and the above is a classic case of that.

He was useless starting when the team weren't creating chances and he wasn't working hard as an all-round team player. Both of those things appear to have been rectified, the latter a couple of games back and the former in the Bolton game. The fact that the team created chances for him meant that he was able to score three goals on Saturday, which significantly improved his stats and have enabled you to somewhat disingenuously suggest that he should have been starting all along.

Should the team stop creating chances and ALF's all-round contribution to the team also drop off, then it is quite likely that he will end up on the bench again, and rightly so.

I'm not sure I would blame ALF for not scoring if he didn't get any chances because the team weren't creating them...

Would it be unfair of me to suggest that he and perhaps some others happen to be putting in a little more effort because the tranny window is open?
