bobby1413 I agree with some others.

Keep Adkins, nothing will be achieved by sacking him. He needs more than half a season or even one full season to do his thing.

Who else would we get as manager? It's a silly suggestion to think of sacking him anyway.

I feel pretty negative about our chances this season of promotion (obviously), but I'm willing to wait till next season after the summer break for another chance.

Exactly this.

Finally the tactics and subs are at times baffling. For example, why is Alfie still not on?!

Why do people still need that spelt out?

Because he, more than any of our strikers, is only effective if the team is creating chances for him!

Was that Pearce's 4th booking or his 5th...?

Adkins out, Mackay in, oh no there's no point in that is there, even if we could afford it, as we wouldn't back any manager at this level...

And doesn't mean you can't give him a run out and at least try.

I disagree. I don't think he is that type of person who will be content with us doing badly.

ScottishRoyal The most frustrating thing for me is that we DO have a squad that is capable of play-offs and promotion this season. Other than QPR how many of the squads above us would you rather have? The problem is with the way we are playing and the form of the players, not the personnel.

NOT the personnel?

When anyone with half a brain cell could see that we have been sorely missing a decent striker and attacking midfielder for over a season.. INCLUDING the club who said they'd be bringing in more players but then mysteriously didn't.

On top of that anyone can see we have NO LEFT BACK COVER

And now NO CB COVER

how on EARTH anyone in their right mind say our personnel/squad is fine?????

Well as a guy with a few brain cells i'll provide more explanation.

We have big gaps,

So you were wrong.

Good.

As we're now moving the goalposts - yes I agree Adkins could also do better.

But not in terms of bringing in players (again you don't need to be Mensa Queen to see there have been big issues with funding at the club, and Adkins is far from the first to suffer).

More chance of a relegation battle this season than a play-off push. Feels pretty shit to see us going backwards like this. Been a long time since things have been this bad here though tbf.

Yep, just need the other person responsible for this mess to go and join him. Not time for another tax holiday JM? I guess every cloud has a silver lining for some, I suspect his accountants will be able to set off his Anton losses against his gains elsewhere.

0 progress under Adkins in 9 months. On what basis do you expect to see any improvement if given a few more months.

Not expecting but hoping? That'd be my answer to that question anyway...

Injuries (and now suspensions) are certainly hampering us to an extent

(not saying I disagree with you though!)

Mackay will probably be going through the courts for his pay-off, as Adkins did. Clarke would be the best bet IF we made that big decision, and we wont, not yet. New owner may have other ideas tho.

the thread was in response to everyone's views on our upcoming season.
