Wishful Speculation - Ryan Gauld

by SPARTA » 14 Dec 2013 13:14

I have to admit to not knowing anything about this kid before watching Football Focus, but wow, what a talent! He is that attacking player we are crying out for. Quick feet, can go past people and his passing is superb. He plays for Dundee United and turns 18 on Monday. With the press he's getting ("Mini Messi"), I doubt very much we could afford him, but if ever there was a time to try and get him, it's now - before he proves himself and gets the move to the top level.

Let Chelsea sign him and then take him on loan for a couple of seasons?

All the big clubs want him. We'd never stand a chance.

Which one of you was it?

English Championship side Reading have made a £2.5m offer for our young midfield starlet Ryan Gauld. A £1.5m offer with Hope Akpan included in the deal was rejected, but £2.5m and Akpan will be very hard to turn down.

Reading's bid is a bold move. Big clubs including Real Madrid are watching the young midfielder dubbed 'mini Messi', but none are expected to make an offer at this stage in his career. Ryan Gauld will be just 18 on Monday.

And what is the source of this or is it just made up rubbish?

It was on the Football Rumours site, just pointed it out because it was posted 40 minutes after Sparta started this thread.

Never going to happen, even IF we were interested, there will be much bigger clubs than us looking at him.

Posted on Sky Sports Transfer Centre yesterday...

Dundee United have announced that Ryan Gauld has agreed a contract extension until May 2017. United boss Jackie McNamara was delighted to secure the future of Gauld, who has been dubbed the 'Little Messi' for his style of play.

He is a fantastic talent who appreciates that Dundee United is the best place for him to develop at this time. Dundee United fans will quite rightly be delighted at this news and how the club is moving forward just now

He's valued at 50 million.

So if we are throwing in Akpan we may need to offer 55.

Let's get a sense of realism into this thread. The whole of Scottish football isn't valued at 50m. :P
