manchester united "luck"

by USA_Loyal_Royal » 24 Nov 2013 17:04

every time a manchester united player does something that would warrant a sending off or at least a yellow card it gets ignored. today wayne rooney kicked another player out of frustration and he only got a yellow, this offense is an automatic red card. if it was literally ANY other club then it would have been a red but since it was united it was a yellow. i havent looked at the stats but im sure it would tell me that united also gets the most penalties out of any team in the league and the concede the least amount of penalties in the league. this usually isnt down to superior defending but down to refs bottling decisions to avoid upsetting united or vise versa with giving them decisions that are usually dives. i know this will never change because the FA is wrapped around uniteds finger but even thought it happens a lot i am still tired of seeing this and it frustrates me every time it happens. the worst is when the few decisions go against united everyone acts like its a great travesty and unjustice but when united gets the lucky call everyone says "oh they would have won it anyway" or they find some other way around it. its oxf*rd irritating and i know it surely pisses off some of the other people on this board as it happened to us numerous times last year facing the big sides.

I don't think it was a red.
It was in the first few minutes of the game, in an area of no importance on the pitch.

However, I do wonder if Cardiff had done that what the result would be

Even though this must be a wind up, could you explain why the timing and area of the pitch have any bearing whatsoever on violent conduct ?

i was wondering the same thing. how i understood the rule if there is violent conduct on the pitch at any time its an immediate red. whats worse is that rooney went on to score and get an assist. with rooney out of the game it probably would have resulted in a cardiff win. it is to be noted that with the "punch" that one of cardiff's players threw at the 90th minute during the game winning free kick, he was probably not thrown out of the game because of rooney's earlier precedent. on the other hand, that punch would not have been thrown if cardiff were winning and not looking for an equalizer with emotions and tension running high in the 90th minute...

im just happy cardiff was able to equalize and united didnt get an undeserved win.

I detest Man Utd and was pleased that Cardiff ended up getting a deserved point and Rooney should have been sent off BUT.............this happens the world over.
Top clubs get the favourable or more lenient decisions be that Man Utd,.Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Barcelona or Real Madrid and I bet it happens in NFL and NBA as well.

When Liverpool ruled at the top level in this country for so many years they got loads of penalties-one of the reasons was that they were so good that they spent more time in the opposition box than other teams and were therefore bound to get more penalties, the other was that being the top club referees definitely favoured them and it is the same now.
In the case of Man Utd because of the obscene reactions by Ferguson to almost anything that happened on the pitch (for which he should have been punished much more than he ever was) refs became nervous about awarding against Man Utd.

I think things will now change but for the moment the big 50/50s will still probably go their way but with the levelling out in the Premier League we might just find that the bigger teams won't be favoured so much.
We can but hope.

Whilst Man Utd are dogshit, I'm tempted by the 8/1 on offer.

Can't see Arsenal, Liverpool or Spurs lasting the season, City are awful away, which leaves just Chelsea to beat and they don't look gr8 either.

Not at all. Just saying that Cardiff beat a City side that cost far more than the current United side, yet Sparta didn't mention it.
