Terminal Boardom Half the probem is the blatant play acting when a player gets "fouled". How many times have we seen live or on tv where a guy is on the deck as if he has been shot and then, as the ball gets close to him, makes a remarkable recovery and sprints after the ball as if nothing happened?

What we see here is another example of clubs failing to educate foreign imports on local customs, behaviour and expectations. A couple of years back, Suarez got done for racist comments aimed at Evra. His excuse was that he was using language used on a daily basis back home. Fer's comments are really no different. It is up to the clubs to ensure that imports understand the way we do things here.

And the play acting wouldn't be as bad if referees gave fouls where the player is clearly impeded to his teams detriment, but doesn't actually fall down.

It just encourages players to make the most of contact and go down theatrically to try to make sure they win something when they've been cynically fouled and otherwise wouldn't get anything by trying to stay up. Which leads to engineering contact and going down under the slightest pressure to buy set plays, which leads to actual diving.
