Exactly. I made this point a week or so ago. If you are going to make loans now then you need to wait until they can play all the fixtures to the end of December to avoid any disruption to a potentially settled team. Obviously if there are no plans to extend the loan or make it permanent then that is irrelevant.

If Sharp and Saints are in agreement we can wait until Friday and make sure everyone is fully fit (ie Pog, Alfie, HRK and Blackman) if they are than delaying registering Sharp a further week would make sense. If we're struggling then it would make sense to have him for a game where he is definitely needed than go short for a game now and have a possible excess of options in 3 months time.

Having a short spell between a loan ending and the next window is irrelevant as he doesn't necessarily go back on the open market for a few days - we can agree a first option to either sign him on a perm or a new loan deal.

Seems unlikely. What if he gets injured before Oct 1 ?
More likely we would have to sign him now but register him later. Means we are then responsible for his wages , insurance etc straight away but stay within the rules as the loan period wouldn't have started yet.

READING FC have signed Southampton striker Billy Sharp on loan, according to reports.

As the Chronicle revealed, Royals boss Nigel Adkins has been chasing the forward for weeks in a bid to boost his side's firepower.
And Sky Sports now claim Adkins has finally got his man, having managed Sharpe in the past at Scunthorpe United.
