Reading's 'Best' Player

Who would you say is, regardless of form, the most talented player in our current squad? Much harder now Jimmy's gone of course.

How do you compare McCarthy and Drenthe ?
AFAIK Drenthe is rubbish in goal, whereas McCarthy hasn't much of a track record as a winger.

You compare them in their respective positions you cock end. If somebody asked who was a more talented footballer, Petr Cech or Simon Church, you wouldn't say "well they play different positions so you can't tell"

Ok, so you're confirming it's a meaningless question then. It may be easy to distinguish wildly different players but to say Drenthe is 'more talented' than McCarthy is rubbish given you are comparing apples with strawberry cheesecake

Second reply and we descend into mongfest petty arguing? Seriously!? Is this a record? Even by TB standards it's impressive.

Are we talking current, all time, recent memory, time supporting the club?

In my time, probably Sigurdsson. At least until Drenthe proves himself to be able to deliver the goods rather than just look shit hot, get fouled a lot and then fluff the resulting fk.

I'm not sure how or why you would. If you wanted to judge how talented a keeper Cech was then that's quite easy, likewise if you want to judge the talent of Church. But why compare the two when they do utterly different things ?

As in football players that play for Reading and are currently in the squad.

Adkins seems to think Bridge, as our second half tactics seemed to consist of "win the ball, pass to Bridge...and he'll make everything better"
