A few scans of the Wisbech programme. Strap - you'll be pleased to see that whoever attended the game agrees with the attendance figure. It wasn't me. Horrific hyphenation from the Team Manager's Office..

King van der Kwaak Have you tried contacting or posting on the Wisbech Town FC forum (Yes, they have one...)

It was one of the biggest games of their history so I am sure someone will confirm the actual playing XI as opposed to the programme.

I've added the first names if it helps - what is remarkable about that team was how many had league experience and how many had it at the highest level - FA Cup finalists etc. Oscar Hold was the manager, btw.

Wisbech Town
1 Bryan Harvey
2 Tommy Deans
3 Ray Robson
4 Henry Adamson
5 John Crosland
6 Amos Moss
7 Tot Leverton
8 Terry Marshall
9 Jesse Pye
10 John Downie
11 Bobby Langton

This is brilliant stuff.

Bryan Harvey signed for Newcastle (86 apps), Blackpool (11) and Northampton (165 incl 2 v RFC).
Tommy Deans had previously played 239 games for Notts Co and before that 45 for Clyde
Ray Robson seems to be a rarity in their team in never having had league experience
Henry Adamson had 233 games at Notts Co prior to joining
John Crosland played previously for Bournemouth (106) and Blackpool (68)
Amos Moss had 109 starts for Aston Villa before joining them via Kettering Town
Tot Leverton started at Nottingham Forest (104 starts 36 goals) before going to Notts Co (45) and Walsall (17) before ending up at Wisbech
Terry Marshall later signed for Newcastle United (5 starts) before ending up in sunny Dartford
Jesse Pye played for Wolves (188 starts 90 goals), Luton (60-32) and Derby (61-23) before ending up at Wisbech via Kings Lynn
Johnny Downie was certainly one of their more famous players, starting at Bradford PA (86-34), before a very successful spell at Manchester United (110-35) then Hull (28-5) before ending up at Wisbech, again via Kings Lynn. Aft leaving Wisbech he joined Mansfield scoring 4 times incl 1 v RFC in 19 starts, before ending his league career at Darlington (15-2).
Bobby Langton also had a famous pedigree with stints at Blcburn (70-10), Preston (55-14), Bolton (118-16 incl the Matthews FAC Final) and Blckburn again (105-33) before ending up at Wisbech via Ards.

Tommy Deans played for the Scottish FL rep side
Johhny Crosland had 2 England B caps
Jesse Pye had a full England cap as well as 3 England B starts
Bobby Langton had 11 England caps

Frankly, it could be argued that the RFC team that day were the underdogs - explains why we only managed a 2-1 win.

Now you have passed the initial test, so if anyone is still reading this nonsense, can anyone help out with the Erith & Belvedere team that we beat 4-0 in an FAC4q match on 15/11/1924!!

Long shot, but there might be someone out there interested (sad) enough to help!

Erith & Belvedere claim that they only lost 2-0 to Reading in 1924!

I believe there were CAMERAS at the Reading Wisbech tie. It was that big it was on Pathe News or something.

I saw a reference some years ago but never traced the footage. But now there is so much more online it may be possible.

Bit busy this morning myself so someone else can have a go at grabbing the glory / wasting their time :)

Book referenced down the bottom of this page might help. Yellowcoat is right about the score being 2-0 from all references I've ever seen.

Well it's in my database as 2-0 so no idea where I got the 4-0 from!! Clearly going gaga.
