MaguireIan Royal Most of us who like Adkins aren't pissing on McDermott though. We just recognise the flaws he had last season and that ultimately saying goodbye was a good decision. No one is saying he did a bad job prior to that, even if they are saying they may have prefered him to do things a little differently.
The problem comes from those who won't let go and persist in trying to argue that McDermott was totally hard done by.
Exactly what you said, only completely the opposite.
This thread exists largely because of so many people slagging off Brian and spitting out revisionist nonsense about his time here. I don't think anyone's going to argue that last season was a top-to-bottom fukk up (including BMc) but he enjoyed unforeseen and quite remarkable success during the rest of his time at the club.
It's just totally wrong not to mention disrespectful to try and rewrite that slice of history.
The sad thing is, the same fans slagging him off will be the first to get on Adkins back the moment we lose a couple of games in a row, and were probably the same to praise McDermott as a legend when we won the league. They just see which way the wind is blowing and spout off accordingly.

AthleticoSpizz So then, its safe to say, that we'll all raise to our feet and applaud him when the Leeds roadshow comes to town.

sandman Can you explain why you felt you needed to post that?

Judge Drenthe Same old BS from our Brian.
On Murphy: "He's a player I've known for a long time, I've watched his career progress, feel he was the best player in his div. last year."
Same was said about Akpan, same division, same position...

BM "We want to be one of the best passing teams in this division"
I'm sorry but BM is full of shit when it comes to passing. Throughout his tenure at Reading he always said we know we can pass better blah blah. Never saw any evidence of that.
But maybe Hunt can be the expert link player now he's at Leeds. And that 6 ft 6 bloke Matt Smith can also link play.

what alot of shit, the style was totally different when we had gylfi.
we had a load of players who werent suited to that though, due to the last few years of total cost cutting by JM, so had little choice. especially once it was agreed that we wouldnt spend huge money on new players

Extended-Phenotype Personally, I think ^ is a lot of shit.
We seemed to be passing the ball well enough under Adkins. Love Brian, but think all this 'he did all he could with what he had' apologising is a bit unfair on the players.
His tactics were simplistic because either:
a) Brian lacked experience to play a better game
b) Brian lacked faith in the ability of his players to play a better game
c) Brian thought a simplistic game gave us the best chance
In my opinion it was probably a bit of each, but when it comes down to it they are all errors from Brian.
